#1:

“I think we all just got to a point where we were waiting for someone else to initiate it, but no one ever did. Maybe that’s the root of a lot of family issues. It isn’t actually the issues people are hung up about for so long. It’s that no one has the courage to take the first step in talking about the issues.”

#2:

“Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing it deserves is forgiveness.”

#3:

Tuqburni is used to describe the all-encompassing feeling of not being able to live without someone. Which is why the literal translation is, ‘You bury me.”

Cover Reveal ~ The Internship of Pippa Darling by Stephanie Keyes

The Internship of Pippa Darling by Stephanie Keyes

Publication date: March 16th 2018

Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Goodreads |Amazon

Romance and blarney abound off the coast of Ireland as a sexy, yet snarky, bestselling author mentors a grad student with a no-filter personality and a dreamer’s soul.

New York Times bestselling author Finn Burke might be sexy as hell, but his book is a depressing hole of darkness. Which is why grad student Pippa Darling almost refuses his offer to intern for him in Ireland. The thing is, Burke can give her something she can’t achieve on her own: a possible ticket to literary success and a way out of her summer housekeeping job at Dad’s B&B. And who knows? She might learn something, even if Burke can’t compare to her favorite writer—the mysterious James Black.

Finn Burke is a revision addict, to be sure. Nothing he writes today will ever be as good as what he might write tomorrow. His second book was a runaway bestseller, but it’s his failed first book he’s most afraid of repeating. With his agent’s drop-dead submission date of September 1st approaching and nothing written, he needs an intern to help him get organized. But when Pippa Darling shows up, with a bloody James Black book in hand, no less, all his plans go straight to hell.

The more time Finn spends with Pippa, the more she’s the one influencing his writing, and soon he faces an even bigger struggle within himself: let go of his painful memories or remain stuck in the past. As Pippa fights her growing attraction to her mentor, she discovers Finn’s not everything he seems and bestseller lists aren’t all they’re cracked up to be.

{Review} Falsies by Olive East

36047132Falsies by Olive East

Paperback, 314 pages

Published August 22nd 2017 by Limitless Publishing

~Rating: 4/5 stars~

Goodreads

When Brooks walks into my life, I can’t keep from wanting him. He’s perfection—a sexy veterinary student who knows how to cook and always cheers me up when I’m down. But I don’t deserve a man like him. There’s a darkness in me that no one could ever love, and I know he’ll abandon me, just like everyone I’ve ever cared about. Just like my father. I wouldn’t be able to stand that hurt, so I push him away. Then my ex comes back. He betrayed me before, but now he says he wants to make me feel whole again. I know it isn’t right, and I shouldn’t let him into my life. But all I want is to recapture the happiness I once had. But sometimes those who want to fix things leave you more broken, and some friends turn out to be false. How can you tell true love from a lie?

~Review~

*a copy was provided by NetGalley*

I loved this book. It was DIFFERENT. I really enjoyed this, it hooked me from the start and just adored the main character Ollie and her story, especially when Brooks came in the picture.  From the start I could tell that this was a story that would go deeper than the pages and characters. There are a lot of things that I could point out that caught my attention, but most definitely the depth of the main character, Ollie and how she slowly reveals why she is the way she is.

Ollie is struggling after the death of her father, who committed suicide. Ollie believes that she’s broken beyond ‘fixing’, and no one will want her the way she is.  She’s emotional, very much so and you can just feel her emotions and anxiety as if it is your own. The thing is, she really isn’t broken, and I found her to be a pretty strong woman. She just has to learn to believe that. She is isn’t perfect, she does things that I don’t agree with and if I could I probably would have tried to smack some sense into her, but you learn life’s lessons as you go along. I feel like that image is only backed up by her unhealthy relationships with both her ‘best friends’, Sadie, and her ex boyfriend Arron, who is engaged to Sadie. They say they want what’s best for her but they both put Ollie down a lot, in both obvious and more discreet ways, but they know that Ollie will come back after a few days. I hated Sadie and Arron with a passion. There are a few other people, you have Ollie’s Mom, can you say, “piece of work”, and Brooks parents, “curiously interesting”. They all made for a fantastic set of characters that I hope we get a little more about them in the next book.

The romance was sweet, slow and builds at a nice burning pace. There is no jumping right in the bed, no instant I love’s you. Yes, there is chemistry from the initial hello, but neither of them act on it. Having their back stories woven in was a nice way to understand them both a little better. And I enjoyed watching them get to know each other and build something a little more than just something sexual. Now, don’t get me wrong, they had some steamy sexual encounters and well worth the wait. The romance between Brooks and Ollie was done in such a way that I couldn’t help but to root for them.

This book was a roller-coaster ride filled with emotion. Ollie is such an intense character and through out the entire book, I just wanted her to find happiness. I fell in love with this book from the second I started reading it. I would most definitely recommend this book to anybody wanting to read a swoon-worthy love story! This is the first book I’ve read from this author and I can’t wait to read more! I highly recommend it!

Delayed Departure by Abigail Drake

(Passports and Promises, #2)

Publication date: August 16th 2017

She’s struggling to get over her ex, and the book of dirty little secrets might be just the thing to help…if only she could find someone to practice on.

Half-Turkish and full of Australian swagger, teaching assistant Adam Kent seems to fit the bill. They decide to become lovers for the duration of the trip, and then part ways. Forever.

But not every lesson can be found in a book, and sometimes falling in love changes everything. When Bethany is forced to confront her past, and the promises she made to someone else, will it really be as easy as she thought to let Adam go?

~Review~

Oh my, Oh my. This was quite a read!  This is actually the first book I’ve read of Abigal’s and I’m hooked! I NEEEED moRE! AHhHHHH! Delayed Departure is the second book in the Passports and Promises series, but it can be read as a stand alone! Abigail Drake paints such a beautiful picture of Turkey. The descriptions of these exotic places are so vivid that you feel like you’re there. This wasn’t the typical romance novel; each character has depth and real emotions that are so believable and actually create foundation for love not just lust.  I can’t wait to read other books of this author!

Delayed Departure basically starts off with, Greg telling Bethany he won’t be able to go on the study trip to Turkey.  Going on this study trip with Greg is something she looks forward to but he backs out at the last-minute for a job offer! I know right! They had this planned for sooo long and he just backs out like that. At first I thought that Greg was a coward and selfish. I mean he basically just hides behind Bethany to keep his secret from his parents, instead of facing them. But at the end of the novel I feel like his character really grows and he really does change. Bethany is in a ‘relationship’ with Greg which we later discover is a fake relationship. Bethany has been covering for Greg for soo long, and it really has taken a toll on her. She constantly puts others before herself. She has grown up with a dream which was shattered two years ago and yet, but she lives in hope. She is literally living a lie. You can tell she’s not happy and is tired of it, but in her mind she has to.  But as the story progresses, Bethany is more confident, and she finds a new strength in her that she didn’t know she had; she finally stops being naïve and lets herself be free, ultimately she becomes the person she was meant to be.

So Bethany ends up going on the trip on her own, at the beginning of the trip, she’s unhappy with the turn of events, but she quickly makes friends and start to appreciate the purpose of her visit.  I loved how open and friendly all the characters were with each other.

On the trip she meets Adam, an Australian T.A on the trip. They hate each other at first, but slowly warm up to each other. Adam is a sweetheart. He is kind, considerate and doesn’t judge. But no matter what Bethany does, he finds a way to pick on her or make her feel stupid. The thing is though that he doesn’t know her and vice versa. I immediately fell in love with Bethany and Adam. They have such amazing chemistry and I’m a sucker for the “hate you-love you” type romance. They’re bickering and banter is classic and so perfect.

“I looked up and caught Adam staring at me. Again. He seemed quite focused on keeping track of me all day. I had a feeling he wanted to make sure I didn’t get into trouble again, but maybe it was more than that. Our eyes locked for an instant, and I felt certain he’d been thinking about the kiss, too. It made one thought enter my head and simply refuse to leave. If kissing him was so spectacular, what would sleeping with him be like?”

After reading this quote, I really wish we had Adams POV. The descriptions of the ways he looks at her, just makes me want to know what he’s thinking.

This book has mystery, history, romance, culture, travel, and humor throughout. I highly recommend reading this novel, such a good read and you won’t want to put it down, it will sweep you away from the very start. I can’t wait/ hope for more in the Passports and Promises series! :3 Now I gotta go pick up book one!

~Excerpt~

My mother insisted on purchasing two of the largest suitcases possible, Louis Vuitton rolling cases in an easily recognizable and slightly obnoxious shade of bright pink. She’d spent more on my luggage than some people did on a car, and they were heavy. I’d loaded them up with my precious books and far too many pairs of shoes before I left. The porter stumbled, losing his grip on the first suitcase, and nearly fell.

I rushed to help, but someone else beat me to it, a tall, mountain of a man. I stopped in my tracks and stared. I may have been drooling. He was, for lack of a better word, beautiful.

Broad chest. Long legs. Strong, muscular arms. Golden, glowing skin. Chestnut hair flowing in riotous curls around his face and down to his shoulders. Eyes in a warm shade of brown. The edge of a tattoo peeking out from under the sleeve of his shirt.

Something unexpected curled in my chest. Was it…lust? I hadn’t felt it in so long I almost didn’t recognize it. But I wasn’t the only person staring at the bronzed god in from of me.

“Heavens to Betsy,” said Hilary under her breath. “I’ve never seen anything so pretty this close up.”

He was pretty, and he was also pissed off, most likely at the owner of the two enormous and ridiculously heavy pink suitcases. Me.

Rhett by J.S. Cooper

~Description~

I’m Rhett.

I’m cocky because I can be. I’ve got it all: the looks, the money, the endurance. I’m the guy that every girl wants to be with, yet none of them have ever been able to tie me down.

I don’t do love. I don’t do relationships. And I sure as hell will never do marriage.

I’m all about the fast life and everything that entails. There’s a different woman in my bed every week. My friends are jealous of me. My enemies envy me. Everyone wants my life. And everything in my life is absolutely perfect.

Until the day she told me she was moving away. She’s my best friend. She was my first kiss in grade school. We share everything with each other. We never dated because I don’t love her. I don’t care that she’s moving. I don’t care that she’s moving for a guy. I don’t care because I don’t love her. I don’t do love.

I’m Rhett and I don’t let anything get me down. Then one night changed everything and everything I thought I knew was called into question.

All of a sudden, being Rhett didn’t mean so much anymore.

~Review~

I’ve wanted to read this for soooo long and finally got the chance!  I thoroughly enjoyed the book. I loved watching a player brought to his knees and losing his heart. Those are the best ones to fall.

Rhett has always had everything he ever wanted. He’s good looking, smart, rich, a ladies man, and a best friend that has been by his side no matter what. That best friend is Clemmie. But Rhett is the ultimate player, and can be a real jerk! But he’s the sweetest ever towards Clemmie. Rhett knows he can depend on Clemmie and he expects her to be. This expectation isn’t of selfishness or because he can be a real dick. It’s because she lets him step all over her. She’s been his best friend, since they were young, and calls out all his BS every time. She understands him and his conceited ways. Even though they are complete opposites, they truly do have a great friendship.

But now, she realizes that she has always put him first and her needs lasts. Now she is going to put herself first. She is going to put herself out there, start dating, and start moving towards her future life. A new life that might not have room for Rhett. But when Clementine starts dating other men and looking into moving, Rhett’s attitude towards her changes. He suddenly sees a woman instead of a girl. A woman that he wants more than anything. Everything he does reminded him of Clementine, even hook ups weren’t working without thinking about Clementine.

I really felt for Clem in this book and what she wanted and the direction she wanted her life to go in. She was really relatable and loveable from the start and as the story went on we realize she isn’t as naïve as Rhett portrays her to be. The end, is just romantically cute how he tries to get Clementine back, and in the back is his Mother who left Rhett when he was young and he hurt because he didn’t know why she left him alone with his dad. This book is terrific insight to boy/girl best friend issues. It sets a high bar for any future reads like this. I highly recommend it!

“I wanted to tell her that I didn’t want anything to change between us.”

#2:

“I could have patted myself on the back. It was so easy with women. Give them a few compliments and smiles and they were like putty in my hand. Everyone aside from Clementine. It was like she was immune to my charm. It had never bothered me before, but now it was fucking annoying me. Why wasn’t she into me and hanging out? Why had she never been into me? I frowned as I thought back to high school and the moment when I’d turned into the boy all the girls wanted. Clementine had never started acting all girly on me. “
