 14. Favorite Passage/Quote From A Book You Read In 2017?

“Imagine all the people you meet in your life. There are so many. They come in like waves, trickling in and out with the tide. Some waves are much bigger and make more of an impact than others. Sometimes the waves bring with them things from deep in the bottom of the sea and they leave those things tossed onto the shore. Imprints against the grains of sand that prove the waves had once been there, long after the tide recedes. That was what Atlas was telling me when he said “I love you.” He was letting me know that I was the biggest wave he’d ever come across. And I brought so much with me that my impressions would always be there, even when the tide rolled out.”  – It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

“Selflessness. It should be the basis of every relationship. If a person truly cares about you, they’ll get more pleasure from the way they make you feel, rather than the way you make them feel.” –Confess by Colleen Hoover

“It annoys me when people try to convince other people that their anger or stress isn’t warranted if someone else in the world is worse off than them. It’s bullshit. Your emotions and reactions are valid, Merit. Don’t let anyone tell you any different. You’re the only one who feels them.” – Without Merit by Colleen Hoover

“Not every mistake deserves a consequence. Sometimes the only thing it deserves is forgiveness.” – Without Merit by Colleen Hoover

“I looked up and caught Adam staring at me. Again. He seemed quite focused on keeping track of me all day. I had a feeling he wanted to make sure I didn’t get into trouble again, but maybe it was more than that. Our eyes locked for an instant, and I felt certain he’d been thinking about the kiss, too. It made one thought enter my head and simply refuse to leave. If kissing him was so spectacular, what would sleeping with him be like?” – Delayed Departure by Abigail Drake

{Review} Cress by Marissa Meyer

13206828

Cress by Marissa Meyer

Paperback, 566 pages

Published: January 27th 2015 by Square Fish (first published February 4th 2014)

~Rating: 5/5 stars~

Goodreads

In this third book in the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder and Captain Thorne are fugitives on the run, now with Scarlet and Wolf in tow. Together, they’re plotting to overthrow Queen Levana and her army.

Their best hope lies with Cress, a girl imprisoned on a satellite since childhood who’s only ever had her netscreens as company. All that screen time has made Cress an excellent hacker. Unfortunately, she’s just received orders from Levana to track down Cinder and her handsome accomplice.

When a daring rescue of Cress goes awry, the group is separated. Cress finally has her freedom, but it comes at a higher price. Meanwhile, Queen Levana will let nothing prevent her marriage to Emperor Kai. Cress, Scarlet, and Cinder may not have signed up to save the world, but they may be the only hope the world has.

~Review~

“Maybe there isn’t such a thing as fate. Maybe it’s just the opportunities we’re given, and what we do with them. I’m beginning to think that maybe great, epic romances don’t just happen. We have to make them ourselves.”

I love this series so much! The characters match the fairy tales in such a unique and creative way. Seriously I don’t even know where to begin this review for this undeniable master piece of a novel.  I felt the story really took off in this one: traveling to African deserts!

The characters were all so loveable and each one of them has a clear distinct personality. Thus when reading all the different point of views you could clearly distinguish a unique voice making each chapter a refreshing breath of new air. As for the new characters Cress was a brilliant actress in the making and captured the dreamer inside of us all perfectly. I loved Cress and her growth throughout the novel and her obsession with Thorne was completely understandable. She’s so not like a typical heroine. She’s extremely intelligent but is primarily a daydreamer and tends to be swept up in her imagination.  love how socially awkward and naive she is to the outside world.

“Captain?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you think it was destiny that brought us together?”
He squinted and, after a thoughtful moment, shook his head. “No. I’m pretty sure it was Cinder.”

Thorne made me laugh so much and I ship him and Cress so hard! Cress. Thorne. Freaking cuteness overload!! They are easily one of my all time favorite ships. Of course Cinder was great and so kickass in this one too. I loved Wolf in Scarlet and in this one he was really lacking for me..I felt so bad for him and Scarlet. I really loved Iko and she grew so much and she’s hilarious and so badass at the end!

“She dreamed of deep soul connections and passionate kisses and daring escapades. She was certain that he simply had to meet her, just once, and he would feel the same way. It would be like those epic love affairs that exploded into existence and burned white hot for all eternity. The type of love that time and distance and even death couldn’t separate.”

The plot was fast paced with not a dull moment to be seen and the pacing was perfect. It was filled with adventure: treks through the dessert, hopeless situations,(not so) damsels in distress, battles and small dashes of romance that spontaneously made me have a stupid, goofy grin. AND OMG THE ENDING. THAT ENDING. SO SO GOOD!! Kai finally seeing the light and that whole thing with Cinder was perfection!  I highly recommend it!

{Review} Love Revisited by Jannat Bhat

35274199

Love Revisited by Jannat Bhat

Paperback, 242 pages

Published May 30th 2017 by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform

~Rating: 4/5 stars~

Goodreads

Rose Scarlet is your everyday girl just finishing college with her best friends Will & Aimee. But when she suddenly moves all the way across the country to a small town called Beacon Hill, normal was a thing of the past, for the city felt eerily familiar to her. How could she end up at the local park without directions when this was the first time she had step foot into town?
How will she explain her irrational fears or feelings so strong for someone who is practically a stranger or is he? What was the story behind the burnt house? She felt like her heart wanted to cry every time she was near it.
And who was Alexander Sinclair? She could see that he was disturbingly beautiful, but how did she know things he had revealed to no one? Why had she seen his face in her dreams before ever laying eyes on him? A thousand more questions haunted her as she found the answers to none.
Not until charming and handsome Nathan Sinclair walks into her life, whom she hated on sight.

Sometimes when something we love is so brutally taken away from us, our soul remembers what our mind is too afraid to.

~Review~

*a copy was provided by the author*

“To live is to feel”

This book is sooo cute~~  I was so intrigued to start this book, written by new author Jannat Bhat.

This is a story of Rose Scarlett.  She lives in a small town with her mom, she has two best friends, Aimee and Will and they are very close. she keeps getting these strange nightmares, about someone called Ruby, whom Rose has never met or even heard of. And when her mother has to transfer for her job, Rose has to say goodbye to her friends and move all the way to Beacon Hill, Seattle. And when Rose gets to her new home, she finds even stranger things happening to her when she seems to recognize places in this town, despite never being there before now. The nightmares show her things that she’s never seen before but somehow are connected with Seattle

“He grips the back of my head and closes the little distance between us. His kiss was different than earlier. It was more forceful and desperate. As if he had finally found what he was looking for. He pushed me lightly on my back until my head lay on the pillow. But he never broke the kiss. I gripped his shirt more tightly in my to let him know that I would be there for him, that my love would be there whenever he was in of it. He tears his mouth away from mine and rests his head on my shoulder while we stay still and try to get our breathing under control once again.”

This book is well-written and very unique, I haven’t read on like it yet. It has a mysterious kind of vibe along with the romance! The romance part of the book was sooo cute :3 I really enjoyed reading it, and I can’t wait to read more from this author! I highly recommend it!

“There he was. Right in the middle of the room. The guy from my dreams. The same Dark hair, same face, same eyes. Only this time, he was bleeding from the front of his shirt. As if he had been shot or stabbed.”

~~~
~Author Bio~
Jannat loves to write about myths and legends in a certain perspective. Love REVISITED is her debut novel and very close to her heart. When she’s not writing, she will mostly be found couped up watching supernatural, obsessing over Korean Drama and snuggled up with her cat Sasha, whom she loves just as dearly.
~Excerpt~
Hercules clenched his jaw and balled up his fists. “Do you even hear yourself?” He raised his voice into a mocking tone. “’Poseidon doesn’t allow this. Poseidon prefers that.’ Dear Zeus, Ursula. Have you ever taken a moment to think about what you need? How much longer do you think you will be able to survive under such stifling conditions?”
Suddenly, I was overcome with a sense of shame at myself. I had never taken a step back and thought about what it must seem like to others. There was no way to defend it, either. It was as it seemed. I was my master’s pet. He cared for me, ensured I had my necessities. All he required in return was obedience.
Still, I couldn’t deny Chiron’s earlier claim, either. I had become a stranger to myself in the time I had served Poseidon. There was a time not so long ago when I had harbored fight in my heart. I had to release that independence to save my life, and one way or another Poseidon’s shelter had consumed me until I loved him for it. I hated Hercules for making me question what I had grown so comfortable with. I didn’t want any further complications at the moment.
“It does not matter.” I lifted a chin. “I’m a servant. I have no say in it.”
“You do as long as you are here.” He nodded toward the food in the center of the table. “Eat, or I will starve as well.”
