Just Like You Said it Would Be by C.K. Kelly Martain

Publication date: February 15th 2017

Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

~Rating: 4/5 stars~

Did you ever want something so much that it felt like a kind of sickness, one you didn’t want to be cured of? On New Year’s Eve the feeling compels seventeen-year-old Amira to text the Irish ex-boyfriend she’s been missing desperately since they broke up at the end of summer, when she returned to Canada.

They agreed they wouldn’t be friends, that it would never be enough. But that was then— back when Amira’s separated parents had shipped her off to relatives in Dublin for the summer so they could test-drive the idea of getting back together on a long haul cruise. Back when Amira was torn away from a friend in need in Toronto only to fall in love with a Dublin screenwriting class and take a step closer to her dream career. And only to fall for cousin Zoey’s bandmate, Darragh, the guy who is first her friend, then her enemy and later something much more complicated—the guy she can say anything to, the guy who makes every inch of her feel wide awake in a way she hadn’t known was possible. The guy she might never see again. Or is there, despite the distance, somehow still a chance for them?

~Review~

I started this book and wasn’t sure what to make of it at first. I found it slow and took a while to get into the story, at one point I did stop reading, and kinda didnt want to continue reading it.. but I’m glad I did finish it.

Just Like You Said It Would Be, tells the story of Amira that lives in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, but is sent to Dublin to spend the summer with family while her parents are on vacation trying to mend their marriage. Amira is soon introduced to Darragh, one of her cousin Zoey’s band mates, and I love/hate relationship quickly ensues. Regardless of the tension between them and attempts at only being friends, they soon find themselves confiding in one another, spending a lot of time together, and eventually they fall in love. They fall in love right at the end of summer, when Amira has to fly back home. But they reconnect, many months later when they both attend a wedding.

The story is beautifully written, and just so amazing. The chemistry between Amira and Darragh is sooo goood :3

I highly recommend reading it!

~Author Bio~

Long before I was an author I was a fan of books about Winnie the Pooh, Babar, Madeline, Anne Shirley and anything by Judy Blume. Throughout high school my favourite class was English. No surprise, then, that most of my time spent at York University in Toronto was as an English major–not the traditional way to graduate with a B.A. in Film Studies but a fine way to get a general arts education.

After getting my film studies degree I headed for Dublin, Ireland and spent the majority of the nineties there in forgettable jobs meeting unforgettable people and enjoying the buzz. I always thoughts I’d get around to writing in earnest eventually and I began writing my first novel in a flat in Dublin and finished it in a Toronto suburb. By then I’d discovered that writing about young characters felt the freshest and most exciting to me. You have most of your life to be an adult but you only grow up once.

Currently residing near Toronto with my Dub husband, I became an Irish citizen in 2001 and continue to visit Dublin as often as I can. My first young adult book, I Know It’s Over, came out with Random House in September 2008 and was followed by One Lonely Degree, The Lighter Side of Life and Death, My Beating Teenage Heart and Yesterday. I released Yesterday’s sequel, Tomorrow, in 2013 and put out my first adult novel, Come See About Me, as an ebook in June 2012. My most recent YA book, The Sweetest Thing You Can Sing, was published by Cormorant Books’ Dancing Cat Books imprint in 2014 and I’m pleased to announce they’ll be releasing my upcoming contemporary young adult novel, Delicate, on September 16th. I’m not your boyfriend. I’m not the guy next door. I don’t even play nice.

My hands twisting in your hair, my whispered demand in your ear—I’m the fantasy you’ll wish you never had.

When I’m through with you, every inch of your body will know where I’ve been. You won’t crave more, you’ll beg for it. Because I’m not just the cocky smile with military hardened muscles you paid five grand for—I’m the experience you’ll never forget.

One night with me and you’ll know exactly why women pay me to be rough.

~EXCERPT~

Desire hit me in the chest like a blast wave, then shot south. “You shouldn’t be here.” She didn’t look like she’d sounded on the phone.

“I’m sorry.” Breathy, her voice wavered. “I thought you said—”

“I know what I said.” I’d replayed every second of our conversation earlier. I’d fixated on it because this woman wasn’t like any other client I’d ever spoken to. She didn’t flirt or make one suggestive remark. She was exactly how she was now. But a hundred times more innocent.

She drew in a breath through her sexy full lips, then straightened. “Okay, well, you said we should meet. We did. Thank you for your time.” Slim fingers reached behind her and she fumbled with the handle of the front door.

I stared at her sweet mouth. “You know what I think?”

“I’m sure you have many thoughts, Mr. Brandt.”

My name on her lips sounded too damn polite. “Only two right now that matter.” I stepped closer, wondering why the hell I’d told her my last name.

She pulled the handle, the door opened a few inches and she stumbled.

“Careful.” I caught her arm and her hand landed on my stomach.

She sucked in a surprised breath. “I’m so sorry.” She bit her bottom lip and pressed her legs together as she stared at her hand. “It was, um, the door.” She flexed her fingers over my abs.

I leaned closer. “Do you know what separates fear from desire?”

Her chest rapidly rose and fell, but she didn’t take her hand off me. “I believe those are two terms that should be mutually exclusive.”

Hard and fast, I slapped my palm loudly against the door, slamming it shut. Perversely getting off on her startled reaction, I bit out two words, “That’s fear.” Calculated, slow, I dragged a finger a few inches up her bare thigh, then I cupped her face. She shivered and I dropped my voice. “But this?” I stroked her bottom lip as I stared at the thousand shades of fuck-my-life-up green in her eyes. “Biting your lip, pressing your thighs together—that’s desire.”

Her hand fisted, gripping a handful of my shirt, but she didn’t say a word.

Still holding on to her, wishing like hell I wasn’t about to let her go, I calmly shifted her to the side. Opening the door, I removed all threat from my tone. “Fear is triggered. Desire is provoked. Leave.” I told myself not to say the next line. “Or stay and get what you came for.”

Book Blitz ~ Bellamy and The Brute by Alicia Michaels

Bellamy and The Brute by Alicia Michaels

Published by: Clean Teen Publishing

Publication date: March 13th 2017

Genres: Fairy Tales, Retelling, Young Adult

A fresh twist on a classic story, Bellamy and the Brute proves true love really is blind.

When Bellamy McGuire is offered a summer job babysitting for the wealthy Baldwin family, she’s reluctant to accept. After all, everyone in town knows about the mysterious happenings at the mansion on the hill—including the sudden disappearance of the Baldwin’s eldest son, Tate. The former football star and golden boy of Wellhollow Springs became a hermit at the age of sixteen, and no one has seen or heard from him since. Rumors abound as to why, with whisperings about a strange illness—one that causes deformity and turned him into a real-life monster. Bellamy wants to dismiss these rumors as gossip, but when she’s told that if she takes the job, she must promise to never, ever visit the third floor of the mansion, she begins to wonder if there really is some dark truth hidden there.

Tate’s condition may not be the only secret being kept at Baldwin House. There are gaps in the family’s financial history that don’t add up, and surprising connections with unscrupulous characters. At night there are strange noises, unexplained cold drafts, and the electricity cuts out. And then there are the rose petals on the staircase. The rose petals that no one but Bellamy seems to be able to see. The rose petals that form a trail leading right up to the 3 rd floor, past the portrait of a handsome young man, and down a dark hallway where she promised she would never, ever go…

As Bellamy works to unravel the mysteries of Baldwin House and uncover the truth about Tate, she realizes that she is in way over her head… in more ways than one. Can her bravery and determination help to right the wrongs of the past and free the young man whose story has captured her heart?

~Description~

Annoyance turns to romance turns to passion in this story of a young couple heading to wine country to celebrate their first anniversary.

When her boyfriend Scott doesn’t pack until the last second and then expects to join the mile high club on a full commercial flight, Kerrie is annoyed at the start of their anniversary weekend getaway. But things immediately get better as the two of them take in the romantic scenery of California Wine Country. That just sets the scene, however, and the real togetherness begins when they get back to their room.

Starting with a passionate strip tease, things get interesting as they realize that they were given the squeekiest bed in the bed & breakfast they are staying at. Love, creativity, and passion are all they need, however, as they enjoy an anniversary neither will soon forget.

~Review~

Kerrie and Scott were taking a quick weekend trip to a bed and breakfast in Wine Country for their first anniversary. Scott didn’t pack for their trip, so she had to do it, which only served to tick her off. Then he tries to get handsy with her on the flight, wanting to join the mile-high club, but she turns him down. When he tells her that he was really excited about their weekend and the romance of enjoying their anniversary that he didn’t think about all the mundane things before hand. Short but still good. My only criticism for this book is that it never mentions her name at all. The only way I knew her name was from the blurb.

~Description~

New couple Evan and Sadie take their passion to the next level when they discover that all they need to do is trust each other

Told via alternating points-of-view, this amazing book takes you through the minds of a young couple as they start out concerned over what the other will think, each of them hesitating to ask for what they really want. Readers will recognize the tentativeness, fear, and caution of new love, while enjoying watching it blossom into what we all hope it will become.

This is the story of Evan and Sadie. Evan wants to try new and exciting things in bed but is afraid to ask for them, and Sadie, who faces the same challenge. We watch as the two of them slowly reach a point where they finally trust each other completely, which leads to an amazing experience that takes their relationship to an emotional and physical new level..

~Review~

Sadie and Evan are a fairly new couple – just six weeks into their relationship, and we see both of them having the same kind of thoughts. They are each holding back on what they like because of the fear of losing each other. Short, but good! I did like this one a little better than Love Shots #1.

~Review~

**a copy was provided for review purposes**

First off, the cover is absolutely beautiful, which is one of the reasons that drew me into reading it :3

Remembrance by Heather Hildenbrand is the first novel in the Heart Lines series, which is a spinoff series for Dirty Blood.  This book can be read as a standalone as I have not read her Dirty Blood series,  I’m not entirely sure what happened in the Dirty Blood Series but still I was able to follow along and really enjoy this book. I love Paranormal Romance, so I just had to read this when the opportunity came.

I felt like the prologue + the first few chapters wasn’t as capturing as I’d expected, I was kinda confused and disinterested but I kept reading.  I think that it’s mainly due to the fact that I haven’t read the Dirty Blood series that I was confused, but sure enough as I kept reading things started to fall into place and it wasn’t all that bad to follow along.I was It’s a quick and easy read that keeps the reader interested, I really loved the story. I can’t to read the next one in this series~ I’m also going to pick up the Dirty Blood series, because after reading this, I know I’m gonna LOVE it :3
