Freedom means brutal choices.

Rebel lovers Naya and Ric have survived one year in hiding, raising Naya’s twins from infants to toddlers in the shadow of the brutal Auberge dictatorship. They’re alive, and they’re together, but the city is crumbling around them and the haunting memory of Naya’s dark days on The Line have never fully left them. Living in isolation won’t be an option forever.

When a mysterious revolutionary seeks their help to infiltrate Auberge’s electronic heart and shut it down, it’s an opportunity—it’s risky, yes, but if it works they’ll get out of the city and taste freedom for the first time. Naya needs this. They need this.

Beyond the broken walls of Auberge, Naya and Ric find the paradise they’ve always longed for. But with anarchy reigning and Naya’s children lost amidst the chaos, they’ll need to forfeit their post-apocalyptic Eden…or commit an unspeakable act.

In the world of genetic mutation, Gypsy’s talent of knowing a person’s age of death is considered a failure. Her peers, the other Cavies, have powers that range from curdling a blood still in the vein to being able to overhear a conversation taking place three miles away, but when they’re taken from the sanctuary where they grew up and forced into the real world, Gypsy, with her all-but-invisible gift, is the one with the advantage.

The only one who’s safe, if the world finds out what they can do.

When the Cavies are attacked and inoculated with an unidentified virus, that illusion is shattered. Whatever was attached to the virus causes their abilities to change. Grow. In some cases, to escape their control.

Gypsy dreamed of normal high school, normal friends, a normal life, for years. Instead, the Cavies are sucked under a sea of government intrigue, weaponized genetic mutation, and crushing secrets that will reframe everything they’ve ever been told about how their “talents” came to be in the first place.

When they find out one of their own has been appropriated by the government, mistreated and forced to run dangerous missions, their desire for information becomes a pressing need. With only a series of guesses about their origins, the path to the truth becomes quickly littered with friends, enemies, and in the end, the Cavies ability to trust anyone at all.

Amazon |B & N

This book is about a seventeen year-old girl named Gypsy, and her fellow Cavies lived and grew up at Darley, a home where they discovered their powers, practised and basically had a mixed up family. All of these teenagers have two things in common. These special abilities make them unique and or different from your average teenagers. When I first started reading this book the first thing that came to my mind was that it reminded me of X-Men just with a different spin to  it.  Gypsy’s world is shaken up when the arrival of the police splits her makeshift family up, and what Gypsy thought she knew about herself is ripped out from under her feet at the discovery she has a real family, somewhere to really call home.
I love this small group of kids that think of themselves as a family, and while we initially only see a quick glimpse of their life together and what their abilities are. I love the uniqueness of them and how not one of them is the same in personality or ability wise. Their families were broken up and each of them had to find a nre home, or somewhere to stay we see how this affects them all, but I really like how the new parental figures still allowed this makeshift family to stay in contact with each other, to keep that bond alive.
Starting a new school is not the best experience for anyone, but imagine having to start a whole new life, and a whole new school on top of that, but also knowing that every single person thinks they know you, yet you have no idea what to do in this new life. I really thought that Gypsy dealt amazingly well with the situation she finds herself in, and I admire her for trying to get used to this new life, making friends and trying to be a normal person.

This book is exciting, dramatic, heart wrenching, mysterious and captivating. I loved it.

I highly recommend it!

Book Blitz ~ Catch My Breath by Lynn Montagano; Excerpt + Giveaway!

Catch My Breath by Lynn Montagano

(Catch My Breath #1)
Published by: Harper Impulse
Publication date: April 17th 2014
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Lia Meyers’ plan for a relaxing Scottish vacation is short-lived when one uncharacteristic moment of clumsiness lands her in the arms of a dangerously attractive Englishman.

The perfect opportunity for a much needed holiday romance? Wrong! Lia’s still reeling from the mother of all bad breakups, and she really doesn’t have the patience for Alastair Holden – despite his effortless charm and cute British accent.

Arrogant and totally inscrutable, he’s exactly the sort of guy she wants to avoid but can’t: the man behind the mystery proves just too tempting to resist.

Drawn to him, Lia is forced to battle with her own insecurities, and the closer they become, the more she recognizes her own weaknesses as she peels away his layers with every night they spend together. Discovering the past Alastair is so desperate to conceal, Lia must decide if they can heal one another together or if their deepest fears will tear them apart.

My heel snagged on the carpet, sending me flying. I landed nose-first in a charcoal gray tailored Armani suit. Momentarily stunned, I clutched onto the toned arms that were wrapped around me. As I looked up my heart nearly stopped.

Wide emerald eyes fringed with long lashes gazed down at me with guarded curiosity. His sculpted mouth twisted into a cautious smile, softening his jawline.

“Are you alright?” he asked as he loosened his grip on me. His voice was rich andsmooth, like a full-bodied wine. The English accent he had could charm the pants off a nun. It made me want to fall into his arms again.

I stepped back, smoothing down my dress. He didn’t look much older than thirty, but his worn eyes betrayed his youth.

“I’m fine. I’m not usually that clumsy. Sorry.”

His brows furrowed. “I kept telling them someone was going to stumble over that patch of carpet. You’re sure you’re okay?”

“Aside from my bruised ego and general lack of grace, I think I’ll be alright.” I smiled up at him in an effort to thwart the growing blush from creeping up my neck. I wasn’t the type who embarrassed easily and needed to regain some sort of composure. No luck.

His expression altered subtly as his stare intensified. Something shifted in the air between us. It was as though he’d tethered me with some freakishly strong invisible rope. My pulse quickened. I was caught smack dab in the middle of his magnetic pull without any means of escape.

Not that I wanted to get away. His tall frame filled out the suit with powerful elegance. The quiet control with which he held himself mirrored royalty. A tousled mass of thick, dark red hair framed chiseled features that would inspire Michelangelo. But it was those eyes that got me.

They were so astute, yet veiled. I wanted to know what was behind them.

“Would you like a drink?”

How he made such an innocent question sound so seductive was beyond me. His dark stare was unflinching. If I said no, he’d probably take it as a personal insult. And I did want another one of those fruity-minty drinks; I just couldn’t articulate the words.

“I hear the signature drink is rather good. Would you like that?”

“Yes, please,” I finally managed to say.

Forget my cheeks, my whole body flushed as I watched him move toward the bar. A silver cufflink glinted off his crisply pressed gray and white pinstriped shirt. I noticed he paired it with a solid gray tie before he caught me looking. A smile ghosted across his lips as his languid gaze traced my curves. I made a big deal out of inspecting the carpet for more hidden traps that my shoes could fall victim to.

He handed me the drink, my fingers brushing his when I clasped the glass. Against my better judgment I fell captive to his stare once more. Luckily, I remembered my manners and thanked him.

“My pleasure. Have you been enjoying yourself?”

“Yeah. Well, aside from making an ass of myself just now.”

A flash of white appeared revealing a dazzling smile. It was extremely sexy and charming. And dangerous. I felt myself falling deeper and deeper under his spell.

“Trust me, stumbling on a carpet is not the worst thing I’ve seen at these events.”

“Stick around long enough and you just might see some of these well-dressed ladies toss off their shoes and throw some shapes when the band starts playing.” He grinned.

“Throw some what?”

“Dance.” His eyes flared with humor.

“You Brits and your crazy sayings,” I laughed.

“We like to keep you Americans on your toes.”

I took a long sip of my cocktail to prevent a stupid grin from spreading across my face.

“Don’t have too many of those. They’re rather potent.”

“But they’re so good. Don’t piss on my fireworks.” I smiled broadly.

A deep, throaty laugh filled the space between us.

“’Throwing shapes’ baffled you, but you know ‘piss on my fireworks?’”

“My sister only taught me the fun slang,” I laughed.

“Does she live here?”

“Not in Glasgow, no. She lives in London.”

“Well then, you’ll have to thank her for me,” he said, smoothing down his tie.

“Thank her for what?”

“Pretty Americans who know British slang are rare in these parts.”

“Interesting.” I looked up at him through my lashes.

“Someone just warned me that you guys have a thing for American girls.”

His eyebrows arched. “And what did they say?”

“It has something to do with our accents.”

“You have an accent?” He angled toward me. “I hadn’t noticed.”

The way that he was looking at me caused me to completely forget my exhaustion. His dark eyes and sexy grin woke me up in more ways than one, pushing several of my hot buttons.

“Be careful,” he said, clasping the glass in my hand. “You don’t want to spill it all over your dress.”

Way to go. “You must think I’m a hot mess. First I take a nose-dive into your suit and now I’m dropping drinks.”

“Like I said, I’ve seen worse.”

The longer I held his gaze, the faster my heart raced. There was something…forbidden in the way he looked at me.

“I should probably get back to my friends.”

“Do you have to?”

A suffocating aura of want enveloped me. He was closer, dominating the space between us. Our quick, breezy exchange was light years away from the hazy, thick fog of desire that hung in the air. Get it together, Lia. Walk away.

“You’re rather deep in thought.”

I blinked. “Sorry.”

“Don’t apologize. I thought maybe I was boring you.”

A shrill ring sounded from his pocket. He fished out a cell phone, frowning at the screen.

“I have to take this.”

And just like that, I was pulled out of his engaging aura and plopped back into reality.

Amazing compilation of Paranormal Romance Books! I love reading paranormal romance, and always on the lookout for new stories, especially in the New Adult genre. This set literally gave me everything that I was looking for! It had stories of love and destiny, sacrifices, a second chance at romance and keeping that love when the odds are stacked against you!

Amaranth by Rachael Wade

Amaranth (The Resistance Trilogy, #1)This story just pulls you in right from the start.  It’s a well-written story that will keep you on your is a very unique take on vampires who don’t want to be monsters. To say the least, I loved it and instantly wanted to read more of her writing.  I managed to read this book in one sitting. Not because it was short but because it was so good! I love the idea of Amaranth, giving vampires an out if they wish to become human again. I’ve heard some say this seems far-fetched but come on, it’s magic! Anything can happen.

Filled with strong characters, fight scenes, humor and of course hunky vampires, with a mix in some revenge, an impulsive, love struck main character and a portal only open under the Crescent moon, and you are ready for Amaranth, a land of exile for Vampires who want to become human again. Once through Amaranth’s gates you can’t return to the human world and live under the rule of Samira, a ruthless witch turned vampire. When Gavin sets off to save the people of Amaranth and himself from his vampiric nature, Camille is convinced it’s a suicide mission and tries to save him. Along with a few friends, they must try to get out of Amaranth without dying first.

This is a well and carefully thought out novel, with skillful world-building, and characters who ring with intensity and reality. The plotting (on both sides of the veil of reality) is extraordinary and very realistic-the reader will accept that any and all of it could actually come to pass. Whenever you begin this book, do set aside a block of time, for you won’t turn away from it till you’re finished, and you’ll find yourself longing for the next volume in the trilogy.

Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter by Nikki Jefford

Aurora Sky (Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter, #1)Aurora Sky: Vampire Hunter is an interesting take on vampire mythology, and I have to say I really like the uniqueness of the mythology. Plague vampires is an interesting concept that I really hope is explored more in the future installments of this Vampire Hunter series. Aurora goes from an ordinary girl to a rebellious kick butt take no names type in a very short amount of time. This is not shocking as the events she has to endure after her accident are a little mind-blowing.

Aurora is a senior at Daneli High school she is going to be leaving Alaska to go to college. When she is in a car accident that changes her life forever. She ended up at a Military Hospital instead of a normal hospital, that is where her mother signed over her rights to Aurora. Aurora has a special kind of blood it can be injected with the right combination of modified organisms and viruses that can make you deadly and powerful. She was saved for a specific reason a chance to serve not only your country but man kind. She doesn’t want to be in the military but she has no choice though. When she went back to school she lost one of her closest friends and Fane started to talk to her. She had to go through some training, she had to kill a vampire. The Military gave her a mentor Dante, Aurora’s mom really likes Dante.

This is a story of a girl who has special blood, so when she almost died, the government decided to surgically repair her to make her a vampire hunter, without her knowledge. This is a very fun one, with a lot of action, and some really interesting characters.

Aurora Sky is a MUST read, I LOVED IT!

Flight by Alyssa Rose Ivy

Flight (The Crescent Chronicles, #1)This was a new idea for a paranormal group of shifters that I have not read before.  This one also has a very surprising unique supernatural character with some really good plot twists, and a great set of characters.

Allison and her friend, Jaime, travel down to New Orleans to have a fun summer before they both leave for college. There they meet Levi, Owen, and Jared who have a mysterious but sexy way about them. Allison has sworn off boys for the summer, but Levi is hell-bent on changing her mind. Allison is snarky and stubborn, and does not like being known as the little rich girl. She likes to handle things on her own. When she first meets Levi, his cocky attitude drives her crazy, and not in a good way, but he starts to grow on her. Allison slowly opens up, and as a character, she is very entertaining. As her relationship with Levi progress, Allie begins to learn that not everything is, as it seems. Levi is that cocky, slightly bad boy that every girl wants but he only has eyes for Allie. At first, Levi annoyed me, just as he did Allison. As I continued to read, he started to grow on me, and I could not help but root for Allie and Levi.

Needless to say, things progress and before long we have undeniable chemistry between our two main characters, no matter how resistant Allie is. It seems that the more she avoids Levi, the more he wants her.  I really enjoyed reading about their relationship develop over the story and what happens at the end I never would have expected!!!

Very entertaining book, I would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys paranormal fantasy!!

Darkness of Light by Stacey Marie Brown

Darkness of Light (Darkness, #1)What a great book!!  The author keeps you guessing the whole time and leaves you with an ending I never could have guessed!! Very entertaining and I could not stop reading.

The two main characters are well-rounded and realistic. Ember, the protagonist, is a troubled teenager. When she was younger she found her mothers’ body after she was murdered and from then on Embers life spirals downward. She sees thing that aren’t real and with tons of therapy she knows that her visions are an ‘escape’ to her own imaginary world, because that is easier to do than facing reality and coping with her problems. Boy oh boy are the therapists wrong… But as one would expect from a real life person, Ember fights to keep her sanity in tact by refusing to believe that her imaginary world is real.

Thing take a turn for the worst when Ember is wrongly accused for an explosion at school, it is a mere coincidence that she always seems to be right in the middle of exploding lights and glass wherever she goes, or is it?

Ember has to go to a different school for a month because the principal doesn’t want her in his school. Mark doesn’t understand why. She found her mom murdered,Mark thinks that they stopped therapy too soon. When she went to school she meets the green-eyed man that she saw at the police office Eli. Torin tells her that her mother left clues to what she was before she was murdered. Eli can’t be with her and he won tell her what she is.

This is one of the most unique stories, with excellent characters, wonderful surprises, lots of plot twists, and some amazing thoughtfulness when it comes to blowing your mind. I definitely say get this one!!!

Whisper by Heather Hildenbrand

WhisperWhisper is a standalone YA romance novel.

Whisper is barely going on with her life. She lost her parents in a car accident and doesn’t know how to get past the sorrow. She lives with her grandfather Tinker. They help wildlife animals who are in need. Her best friend Erin convinces her to go out one night to a bonfire. When she unexpectedly finds an unconscious boy, her life will never be the same. The Cherokee believe in reincarnation but it’s always been something Whisper has a hard time believing. An evil force stalks Whisper and she may find that magic and the Cherokee ways are more deeply ingrained in her life than she thought. Now she has to fight for her life and those she loves if she wants a chance to find happiness and life again.

This one is amazing. It’s a heartfelt, gripping, heart wrenching story, but it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read… EVER. I mean that. So, with that said, I recommend you pick this one up as well.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Fated Compilation. I found the stories to be intriguing, addictive, and I loved all the different paranormal aspects.

I feel ridiculous. And I bet I look ridiculous.

My ingenious plan isn’t so genius now that I’m actually acting it out. I’m a tad chilly and am getting a slight cramp, but I have no time to chicken out because the front door downstairs has just closed.

My plans of escape are long gone.

Rearranging myself, I shuffle up the bed quietly, listening intently.

I can hear bottles in the fridge rattle as Jasper opens the door, no doubt standing in front of it, the dim light inside bouncing off his perfect features as he grabs a beer.

I hope he’s not hungry, as I can’t remain in this position much longer without losing face.

Thankfully, I hear his heavy footsteps trudge up the stairs, and my insides do a tiny flip-flop in excitement, and trepidation.

This is it, Ava. You’re a strong, powerful sexy woman. My goals are more important than my fear. I am the lioness of the jungle, ready to pounce.

Who the hell uses these positive affirmations, because they are so not helping right now!

Taking a deep, steady breath as Jasper opens his bedroom door, I can see he’s taken aback when confronted with the millions of candles I have laid around the bedroom, trying to set a mood, and hopefully, not setting the house on fire in the process.

“What the…” he gasps, and then his eyes land on his bed.

Well, they land on me.

I am lying on his bed, in the most seductive pose I can muster, without looking like a total dweeb.

“Ava?” he asks as he steps into his bedroom, slightly stunned to see me sprawled on his bed like a Playboy Bunny.

“Happy birthday,” I reply softly, giving him my best attempt at ‘bedroom eyes.’

I practiced in the mirror for about twenty minutes, so it better come across as sexy, and not like I’m severely cross-eyed.

He strolls over to the end of the bed, looking down where I lay, propped up on one elbow with a knee bent, gazing up at him.

“Th-thanks,” he stutters while eying my body not so discreetly.

Win for me! Jasper, who is usually so eloquent, is lost for words.

Smoothing out my black chiffon nightgown, which scarcely covers my bare skin, Jasper watches intently as my hands glide over my flesh. I demand the blush about to creep over my body to keep away, because now is not the time for modesty.

He licks his bow lips and runs a hand through his hair, fisting it into a messy peak. He looks amazing. Even at 2a.m., after working all night, he looks as if he’s stepped off a runway in his grey sleeveless hoodie and faded blue jeans, which are tucked into his loosely tied, scuffed combat boots.

“Are you my birthday present?” he asks, his eyes lingering on the sheer material at my breasts.

Before I have a chance to answer or blush he adds, “Because if you are, I want to unwrap you now.”

Nicole deSalvoa a typical “good girl”, who never causes trouble and always does the right thing even if that means never sharing a moment with the man she fell for when they were teenagers. Unbeknownst to her, Jase feels the same way about her, but has never acted on it because it was an unwritten rule between bro’s you didn’t cross. He is graduating from college and is now shipping out with the Marine Corp. They have one night to share their feelings.

I loved this story and I know you will too.

An Indecent Affair Part I by Stephanie Julian

An Indecent Proposal is Part 1 of a continuing story. I love her style and the knack she has of giving you just enough to tempt you to want more. Overall a great read.

Tristan has always had his eye on Kat. Adam is his best friend and he hopes that he feels the same about her. Tristan & Adam have been inseparable since Ranger School. Adam has spent many night listening to Tristan talk about the gorgeous woman Kat, that would someday be his. Now they have opened a business together and Kat is still the envy of Tristan’s eye but these days he hopes for more than Kat to be his he also hope she will accept Adam as well.

Her socialite mother always demands Kat to do things but one thing she refuses to do is to marry someone of her mother’s choosing. Attending a party at her mother’s insistence Kat will find herself feeling all kinds of uncomfortable but when she receives a proposal from Tristan will she be strong enough to follow her heart or will she walk away and do what is expected.

Kat is done with her mother, her meddling, and trying to marry her off. When she happens upon Tristan and Adam, will she break free from her mother? Can these three find their HEA after a mind-blowing night of passion? Come along for the ride of your life in this sensuous novella…

Tyed by Raven Morris

This story is full of steamy, racy and passionate sex, between the two main characters, Ty and Kylie. Kylie and Ty had a one night stand in college that neither have forgotten. Kylie is about to get the surprise of her life when Ty is the person she is interviewing.Although they had both moved on in their lives, they had both kept tabs on each other during these years apart. However, as hot as the sexy parts were in this story, it was the honest conversations that they finally had with each other that sold me on this story. The point being that no one knows what another person is thinking. You have to ask and be prepared for whatever their answer may be.

For some, the quantity of sex may be overwhelming, but there is a valid storyline and that delivers a prudent message; never assume you know what another person feels, if you aren’t prepared to ask.

Pumped by Willow James

Skylar loves checking out the suit who walks by her workplace every day. Who doesn’t mind a little eye candy? Griffin doesn’t mine the leering every day from the sexy Skylar. When Griffin happens upon a private conversation, he will make Skylar an offer she can’t refuse. Griffin Blaze is happy to be running one of the company offices away from the city. He also doesn’t mind the sexy girl he sees watching him each day as he goes for lunch. Deciding to go to the shop Griffin’s intentions aren’t clear but after hearing a conversation he decides to make Skylar a proposition.

Will Skylar accept what Griffin is offering and what will happen when the rules get in the way?

The characters were immensely likeable, and the torn emotions from both parties were genuine, heart felt and endearing. The author really took the time to really develop these two characters. I enjoyed reading Pumped it was a great read and look forward to reading more of Willow James in the future!

This anthology was amazing, very unique well-written stories, at first I thought it’s just pure steamy and passionate scene but every story you will learn something and all of us can relate because it really happened in real life. All characters are very lovable. They have incredible chemistry and you will fall in love with them over and over again. You will not be disappointed in any of the stories.

All in all, this Erotic Romance Anthology was very enjoyable. If you like your stories steamy then this is the perfect set of books for you. I highly recommend reading it!

Happy Reading!
