Now that Sean and Scarlet are together, Scarlet couldn’t be happier. They were meant for each other and would make any sacrifice to be together. With her greatest friend as her new lover, their relationship was perfect. But when Sean asks her to move back to New York, she hesitates. She doesn’t want to leave her brother after finally reconnecting with him so they agree to make the coast-to-coast trip every weekend. Scarlet wants Sean to move to Seattle but she knows he can’t leave his job for her. Scarlet fears that Sean still loves Penelope even though she never questions him about it. When Penelope shows up at Sean’s apartment pregnant and penniless, Sean has to decide what he really wants. Will a baby interfere with the happiness that Scarlet has recently found?
Wow!!!! I can say I have thoroughly enjoyed this series so far, 2nd book. This book is the second of three.
Forever and Always starts right where Only For You (Book 1 in the series) ends, with Sean in Seattle for Scarlet. He makes it known right away that he wants her to come back to New York City with him and that tears Scarlet up. Her relationship with her brother is repaired and she doesn’t want to let that go and is afraid that it will become strained if she does. After Scar and Sean discuss it, they head back to the apartment she shares with her brother and he settles in the living room. Scarlet wants to make up by going to bed right away, but they go out for a drink instead and then spend the next day playing basketball with Ryan and Cortland before the two of them go back to the apartment and he finally gives in and they sleep together. She takes him to the airport the next day, both of them not wanting to be apart, but they had come to a compromise that they’d try long distance until Scarlet could make up her mind. Within a few days of being back in New York City, Ryan gets the shock of his life when his ex show’s up, says she’s carrying his child and wants another chance. Well, because Ryan doesn’t want his child to grow up in a broken home, he believes he’s doing the right thing by moving her into his apartment. He flies out that weekend to Seattle to break the news to Scarlet and she immediately throws him out of the apartment. Scarlet allows herself a little while to cry before cleaning up and heading over to Cortland’s to see her brother and Cortland, determined not to go into a depression. Within a short time and with the help of his co-worker, Brian, Sean realizes that he’s not in love with Penelope and tells her she has a month to move out. He then goes into a depression with pills and alcohol.Meanwhile, Janice shows up in Seattle to see Scarlet and to make amends and then tells her what Sean did to their boss, Carl, and how she’s been paying the price ever since. Scarlet and Janice, with the help of Cortland and Ryan, come up with a plan to bring Carl down. They head back to NYC the next day and carry out the plan that weekend. After carrying out the plan, they’re at a hot dog vendor when Sean’s friend, Brian, recognizes Scarlet and tells her that Ryan hasn’t been seen or heard from in a week and that he’s been fired from his job. He then tells her of the Penelope news.
Scarlet is torn about what to do. She still loves Sean and will never forgive herself if something happens to him. Ryan encourages her to go to him. She gets Sean back on his feet and heads home after getting Janice to move to Seattle and work with her in her Editing Company.Once she’s home, the government comes calling with a court date for her student loans and that sends her reeling. Meanwhile, Sean moves to Seattle to fight for her, for them. Janice has moved in with her and her brother and the inheritance comes into play. But when Scarlet finds out Sean has moved to Seattle, she wants no part of him and tells him as much very publicly, shortly afterwards, she learns the truth about what he did to help her and Ryan.
She asks him to meet to thank him and after he leaves, she goes after him…
Sean is intelligent, charming, handsome, kind, caring, noble but overall he is loyal. His love for Scarlet is tested in Forever and Always. Decisions that are difficult to make come knocking on Sean’s door and just when he thought his life was finally moving in the direction he knew it should and wanted, a past relationship threatens his future with Scarlet. Facing one of his most hardest decisions, Sean makes a life alternating decision that will change his life in one of the worse ways possible.
Scarlet is intelligent, beautiful, giving, stubborn but most of all she loves unconditionally. The one thing Scarlet struggles with is her love for Sean. He is the one man that holds her heart. They finally have a chance to be happy but their relationship is tested and what Scarlet thinks she knows is nothing compared to the truth.
Penelope is someone that lies to get what she wants. At one time she was the love of Sean’s life. She walked away from their relationship thinking she had someone better until that someone pushed her away. She has no one to turn to, which leads her back to Sean. While Sean tries to move on from Penelope, it comes as a shock when Penelope shows up and asks for a second chance, claiming she is pregnant with his baby. Penelope is a deceitfully person and only cares about herself with no regard to others around her; she turns Sean’s life upside down.
Ryan will do anything for his sister. It’s been him and her against the world since their father died. They share a mother that has no respect for them. Ryan is a protective, loyal, caring and kind brother and the events that occur in Forever and Always paints him in the best light possible and it warms your heart that the love he has for his sister is one that holds you captive and makes you long with that kind of relationship with your sibling(s).
Cortland is kind, caring, loyal, intelligent, noble and so much more. He is an overall good guy that is looking for someone he can spend the rest of his life loving. To him family doesn’t mean blood. He considers Ryan as family and since Scarlet moved back to Seattle, she is now his family too. Which means we will do everything he can to make sure she happy. Even support her when she blinded by fear.
I really loved the epilogue, so so pleased they really deserve a chance of happiness, so hope they continue making headway towards a beautiful happy ending. E.L. Todd has done a great job with this series. It is a very well written and captivating series filled with romance and drama. The characters are well developed and the drama between them is believable. She has seriously gotten me hooked on this series and I can’t wait to read the next installment. I highly recommend it!
