~Description~

Before Briony’s stepmother died, she made sure Briony blamed herself for all the family’s hardships. Now Briony has worn her guilt for so long it’s become a second skin. She often escapes to the swamp, where she tells stories to the Old Ones, the spirits who haunt the marshes. But only witches can see the Old Ones, and in her village, witches are sentenced to death. Briony lives in fear her secret will be found out, even as she believes she deserves the worst kind of punishment.

Then Eldric comes along with his golden lion eyes and mane of tawny hair. He’s as natural as the sun, and treats her as if she’s extraordinary. And everything starts to change. As many secrets as Briony has been holding, there are secrets even she doesn’t know.

~Review~

This novel is an exquisitely written and wonderfully constructed story with a chilling atmosphere, an original premise, a fantastic setting and a self-destructive and achingly realistic protagonist and a very believable and like-able love interest

Don’t let the cover fool you, it’s not a paranormal romance, nor is it about a goth girl playing Victorian dress-up…it simply does not do justice the sheer poetic loveliness of the novel. Chime feels like a retelling without being based on a fairytale: the whole timbre of the book is tale as old as time, but set in 1910s England. The closest comp titles I can think of are Juliet Marillier’s Wildwood Dancing, Laini Taylor’s Lips Touch Three Times and Elizabeth Bunce’s A Curse Dark As Gold. All of those books I love passionately, and I can happily add Chime to that list.

Ultimately, Chime is a novel about the facets of a person, about self-loathing, about love, about art. About monsters, too, and the shape they come in—and about mothers and manipulation and morality. It has beautiful moments, moments where you stop breathing, moments where you sit back and gaze at the pretty words, moments where a sigh is practically written into the page.

I definitely recommend Chime.

Wow!!!!

Minutes Before Sunset, the first book of the Timely Death Series which tells of the elemental power struggle between Dark and Light. It is an amazingly well crafted and multifaceted novel with a fantastic hero and heroine and memorable supporting characters.

Seventeen-year-old Shoman is a Shade, a descendant of the dark side, and his eighteenth birthday is fast approaching. But instead of cake, ice cream, and balloons, Shoman will fight Darthon, the descendant of the dark, and only one of them will survive.

Minutes Before Sunset is an original and compulsive read. The tale is told in the first person, with chapters told from the perspective of Eric and Jessica. This is effective in terms of both advancing the plot and giving depth to the characters.

I highly recommend it!

~Description~

Sex isn’t love, but it feels like it–that is until Sean bolts from the room. For a moment, everything seemed fine. Avery’s life didn’t feel so impossible. She got the guy and the money, but then everything shifts. The line between reality and fantasy gets hazy. It’s impossible to know if her feelings are genuine or just an illusion.

To make matters worse something from Sean’s past surfaces. Devastated, Avery realizes that Sean isn’t the guy that she thought he was. Avery’s heart can’t take another loss and this time, it looks like she’s going to lose everything.

~Review~

Wow!!!! It keeps getting better and better. I am sooo hooked in this series.

This is the third installment in The Arrangement Series. This is not your typical, fluffy love story, its dark, deep, intense and at times, disturbing. Both the female and male lead are suffering with the death of loved ones which is what brings them together, but also tears them apart.

Sean is clearly tormented by his past and as much as he tries to work past it, he struggles to break free from the darkness which envelops his mind, and heart, frequently. There are moments when Sean and Avery’s personal relationship seems to progress by leaps and bounds only to have the sexual desires of the business arrangement bring everything crashing down.

Overall, well-written, captivating… but soooo short!! I highly recommend it!
