Paige Donovan is an ambitious college graduate who aspires to reach the top of the corporate ladder. She’s climbing fast when given the promotion of a lifetime at a prestigious fashion magazine in New York City. Her bright future comes to an unexpected halt after news of her father’s death. She inherits his old cabin in the Colorado Rockies, and just when she thinks her luck couldn’t get any worse, she has a car accident in the mountains and awakens in the small, remote community of Black River.
Soon, she’s engulfed in the mystical world of Varulv—wolves descended from 13th century Scandinavia and blessed by Norse gods with the ability to appear human. Paige is desperate to return home, but never expects to fall for her rescuer, Riley Gray, a charming young werewolf from England who offers her an alternate future with his pack.
Now, she must choose between the career she’s always wanted and the love she’s always dreamed.
Howling Hearts was a refreshing read. It is not your typical Werewolf story and I have to admit, I really, really enjoyed this one.
The story follows Paige, a woman that has everything. An awesome job at the posh magezine Elle, a boyfriend to die for and plenty of feature growth. Then in one night her life took a plunge. The death of her father.
Her life takes a different turn when she inherits her father’s cabin in the Colorado Rockies. The cabin has always held good memories for her, despite the fact that strange things happened to her there. An unexpected accident soon sends her further over the edge. She finds herself ensconced in a community along the Black River. The place feels like home, though she won’t admit it. For all intents and purposes, everyone looks normal to her. But they hold one tiny secret. They’re werewolves.
She’s been there once before as a child where she met a wolf pup. Now years later she is finally going back. She met Riley, our wolf boy and it was instant attraction.
Paige’s life has never been quite normal. The wolves and her dreams prove that. Though she’s as determined as ever to make the most of the world she lives in, she can’t deny the fact that she’s different. Her heart and instincts have always led her to the one place she’s needed to be.
A truly intriguing fairy-tale, this is one story you’ll definitely be reading time and again.I would recommend this novel to every werewolf fan out there.
The story had a lot of different thing going on but I felt it was a little rushed it places and the ending needed more.
Overall a good steamy story with a deliciously hot werewolf.I am not sure how I feel about ending though, I would like to see a next book to see what happens with that pack.
