” His slow smile was pure satiated male. “I’m grateful for the privilege.”
I sank back onto my heels. “You’re killing me. You can’t be that gorgeous and sexy and say stuff like that. It’s overload. It fries my brain. Sends me into a meltdown.”
His smile widened and he kissed me again. “I know the feeling.””
#2:
““I don’t think you do. This” –he gestured impatiently at himself– “is just a fucking shell. You’re what drives me, Eva. Can you understand that? You’re my heart and soul. If something ever happened to you it would kill me, too. Keeping you safe is goddamned self-preservation! Tolerate it for me, if you won’t do it for yourself.”
I surged into him, knocking him off-balance and onto his back. I kissed him hard, my heart pounding and blood roaring in my ears.
“I hate to freak you out,” I murmured between desperate kisses, “but you’ve got it real bad for me.””
#3:
““Waking up to you is like… presents on Christmas morning.”
His mouth curved. “For your convenience, I’m already unwrapped. Batteries not required.””

“Gideon’s chosen location was paradise. His pilot took us over the Windward Islands, flying low over the impossibly beautiful blue waters of the tranquil Caribbean into a private airport not far from our ultimate destination, the Crosswinds resort.”

Review:
[Reason for purchasing: I was browsing Kindle books on Amazon; looking for new books to read, and clicked on this one, I probably should have read the synopsis first!!! Ughhh…. however, seeing that it was FREE and all, I just went with it, and didn't cancel or delete the novel… it can't be that bad, right?]
For starters, it was a VERY, VERY short read, approximately 40 pages.
Once I read it I was shaking my head at ever having mistakenly gotten this book that didn’t seem to have a story or any redeeming features, merely an exercise in sexual happenings. There wasn’t much story-line to get into. The story line could be interesting but for me it was boring and I didn’t find any substance within the characters to even want me to keep reading about them.
Even though it was FREE, it was NOT worth the time, and for only a few pages. And OMFG a CLIFFHANGER!!!!!
I’m definitely going to start reading the synopsis, especially with FREE books!!
I usually don’t give low ratings, so with this novel I was generous with the rating giving it a 3, when I would have given it a 1/5 or 0/5 stars….
Sixteen-year-old Felicia Murphy has learned the pitfalls of letting the snakes in her head control her life, and she has no intention of letting them interfere in her future. She knows it’s not her duty to dish out vengeance, but, oh, the temptation…
Battling near-constant headaches bites, but with Ryder by her side, she’s able to keep the Fury at bay. She doesn’t care that Meg, her biology-mother-from-hell, has escaped Mercy’s prison and will be playing dirty to get Felicia on her side. What does she care about, is having a perfect night at the prom and successfully debuting the new mentor room for the troubles kids in town. She refuses to play into Meg’s sick and twisted games.
Lines become blurred when Felicia’s best friend is brutalized. Felicia knows she could have prevented the pain if she had been willing to wield her one secret weapon. What once was black and white now becomes soiled with shades of gray.
Will this self-discovery encourage her to embrace her craving for vengeance? And if so, will Ryder be able to accept her for who she has become?

This is the second novel in the Teen Fury series. It’s an original young adult paranormal story. This was definitely a great second book and as good if not better than the first book.
In the first novel, [Teen Fury: Unleashed] Felicia learns the truth about her biological parents. They represent good and evil, however in the second novel Felicia begins to wonder what is good and what is evil. The adventure continues as Felicia is forced to explore what her true nature is. There were many twists and turns, throughout the novel.
I really, really, really enjoyed it. A quick, fun read that I absolutely could not put down! I highly recommend it. Can’t wait to read more from this author!!

**ARC was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
The Fetish Box: Open All Night is a short read. It’s about a young girl, Mary, who was raised by her grandmother. She did not know her mother, and her father wasn’t around that much. After finding out her mother had passed, she was left multiple things in her Will, including The Fetish Box….a sex store. The intro was great, I loved being inside Mary’s mind and hearing about her past. I loved the description of her mums house and her plans. Then it all started going a little different, when she meets John and Max.John: He is an ex-military soldier. After and IED accident in Afghanistan he is left with a few burn scars on his face….but that does not make him any-less attractive, more interesting though. He lives above The Fetish Box Store.
Max: He’s straight forward, knows what he wants and goes for it. He is from Ireland and has a sexy accent. He owns the other half of the bar in which Mary inherited.
Just as the story starts to get good, you’re left hanging… The overall story line is good, I did like the characters, you can feel yourself in the scene which is hard to achieve so that’s why I gave it a little higher rating. It is just a bit all over the place, but I will definitely read the next novel, just to see what happens next!

Review:
This is the first novel in the series, and WOW I loved it!
Teen Fury: Unleashed is a young adult paranormal story about a young fifteen year old adopted girl[Felicia], who discovers that, her birth mother is a Fury, and her father is a God of Mercy. This discovery is significant Felicia; this causes a number of complications in her life. I loved this story it was original, and the idea of this Felicia discovering that she is the real daughter of two mythological creatures was interesting.
The main character Felicia was caring and genuine, and was so real. She was a perfect teenage heroine, in the novel. The love triangle between Felicia, Ryder and Zane provided a lot of tension and also helped Felicia (and the reader) to understand the dichotomy that she was struggling with because of the fury side and the mercy side of her genetic make-up.
There was a mix of mythology, powers, adventure, and romance. I really, really, really enjoyed it. A quick, fun read that I absolutely could not put down! I highly recommend it. Can’t wait to read the second novel in the series!!

” “The past doesn’t change no matter how much time you spend thinking about it. Good and bad all add up to the whole. Take away one piece, no matter how small, and the whole changes. Whether it’s optimism, pessimism or fatalism, I don’t spend my time wishing for the past to be different so present would be different, too. I control my future with what I choose now.”

“ The crackle of static and silence greeted me. Then, “Anne?”
I fended off my husband’s wandering hands. “Yes?”
“Hello, Anne.” The voice was low, deep, thick. Unfamiliar yet something about it made me think I knew it.
“Yes?” I said, uncertain, glancing at the clock. It seemed rather late for a telemarketer.
“This is Alex. How are you?”
“Oh. Alex. Hello.” My laugh sounded embarrassed this time. James raised an eyebrow. I’d never spoken to Alex. “You must want to speak to James.”
“No,” said Alex. “I’d like to talk to you.”
I’d already been planning to hand off the phone to James, but now I stopped. “You would?”
James, who’d been reaching for the phone, took back his hand. His other brow raised, the pair of them arching like birds’ wings. I shrugged and raised a brow myself, using the subtle nonverbal signals we’d forged as our private marital communication.
“Sure.” Alex had a laugh like candy syrup. “How are you?”
“I’m…fine.”
James stepped back, palms up, grinning. I cradled the phone against my shoulder and turned back to the sink to rinse off the dishes, but James nudged me aside and took over the task. He waved a little, shooing me.
“That’s good. How’s the bastard you married?”
“He’s fine, too.” I went to the living room. I’m not much of a phone conversationalist. I always need something else to do while I’m talking, but now I had no laundry to fold, no floor to mop. No dishes, even, to wash. I paced, instead.
“He’s not giving you any trouble, is he?”
I wasn’t sure how to answer that, so I opted to assume Alex was teasing. “Nothing the whips and chains can’t take care of.”
His low chuckle tickled my eardrum. “That’s right. You keep him in line.”
“So…James tells me you’re coming for a visit?”
The hiss of static made me think we’d lost the connection for a second, but then he was back. “Yeah, that’s the plan. Unless you object?”
“Of course not. We’re looking forward to it.” A slight lie. I was sure James was looking forward to it. Never having met Alex, I wasn’t so sure about having him as a house guest. It was an intimate proposal, and I wasn’t so good at intimacy on short notice.”
#3:
“That surprised me, too. I’d sent photos to a few of my friends who hadn’t been able to attend, but…well, we were women. Chicks did stuff like that, giggled over pictures and sent chatty emails.
“Well….” I trailed off, awkward. “When are you coming in?”
“I have a few details to work out with the airline. I’ll let Jamie know.”
“Sure. Do you want me to get him for you?”
“I’ll email him.”
“Okay. I’ll tell him.”
“Well, Anne, it’s almost two in the morning here. I’m going to go to bed. I’ll talk to you soon.”
“Goodbye, Alex –” He’d already disconnected, leaving me to stare at the phone, a bit taken aback.
There was nothing odd, not really, about him being in touch with James. Men’s friendships were different than women’s. My husband never told me about talking to Alex, but that didn’t mean he was keeping it a secret. It just meant he hadn’t thought enough of it to share. In fact, I should be happy they’d resolved their differences. It would be nice to meet James’ dear friend, Alex, the rascal. The ragged one, who ran round and round the rugged rock. The one who promised me treats from Wonderland. The one who called my husband Jamie, not James.
The one James had only ever spoken of in past tense.“
“This is a story of a kiss–a simple kiss. . . and a boy. . . and a girl.
It’s the Great Depression, but you would barely know it in Dam Town. The building of the great Carnee Dam has brought money, men, and mischief into an otherwise seemingly quiet desert community.
Ahanu is an outcast, born into a culture that despises him. He is Native American, of the land, a free spirit. If he wasn’t in love with a girl that was already taken, maybe he could spend his days in the forest just as he pleases, but life isn’t that simple.
Coreen is on a path to nowhere, dating the typical boy, and doing as her father always asks, or that’s how it appears. On one moonlit night, her fate becomes entwined in an old curse unlocked by the boy of her dreams–true love–Ahanu.
This curse is old and it will have its way, it will do its damage.”
About The Author:
Book Excerpt:
She giggled quietly as they entered the gaping hole that burrowed into the mountain.
“Shhhhh,” he whispered.
She giggled again.
“I’m serious . . . be quiet.” Ahanu put his finger to his generous lips.
The flame was almost about to burn out, so Ahanu ripped the second arm off his shirt and wrapped it around. In the brightness, he caught the flames dancing in her sapphire blues. He held the torch up and out and took her hand in his.
“You’ve never been here before?” she whispered.
“No. I’ve come close, but ran back.”
“Oh. You scared?”
“No . . . mmm . . . maybe. . .”
The opening was small compared to how large it actually was inside. The cave ceiling loomed high above, then tapered farther back to a crouching level. The light didn’t carry that far back, and they didn’t want to venture so far anyway.
“Stop,” he whispered.
There was a large, lone rock, shaped as if to invite seating. He leaned the torch staff against the wall. They sat down together, Ahanu’s heart pounding away in nervousness. He wondered if hers was doing the same. At first they said nothing, did nothing, other than listen to one another’s steady breath. He let out a sigh and she did as well. They caught each other’s gaze. She smiled, and he leaned in for that first kiss.
The waiting had been killing him inside. Ahanu felt his stomach burn and recoil as their lips touched. Her lips were softer than he had imagined, and any other active thoughts in his mind vanished as he allowed himself to experience his Coreen. He took his hand and slipped it at the base of her head under her silky hair and tugged slightly. She let out a soft moan, so he tugged a little harder, pulling her head away just enough so that their lips separated. The look in her eyes was only one of want, so he got back to it.

Review:
After reading and loving the first novel in this series I was eager to read Timekeeper, and find out how the love story of Michele and Philip would continue. Timeless left off on a cliffhanger, so I couldn’t wait to read the second novel!
The whole idea about someone who can time travel actually just crazy, and even crazier when they end up to falling in love with the person from the another century. I wonder how Philip and Michele can be together, but Philip promised Michele that he will find the way back
And he did…
He came to Michele’s time, however he doesn’t have any memories with her and of course it makes Michele sad. But it’s not the main problem because there’s somebody who after Michele and wants her dead. That person comes from her father’s era and she was a time traveler too, then she knew the whole fact about his father who also a time traveler and about the The Time Society. The Time Society is an organization for person who can time travel and they called Timekeeper.I fell in love with Michele and Philip love’s story. It’s hard to falling in love with person that doesn’t exist in our time. I wonder if time travel is really exist, i want to travel through the past and the future too.
Definitely a MUST READ!! I highly recommend it!

Description:
It’s been one year since all the adults disappeared. Gone.
Despite the hunger and the lies, even despite the plague, the kids of Perdido Beach are determined to survive. Creeping into the tenuous new world they’ve built, though, is perhaps the worst incarnation yet of the enemy known as the Darkness: fear.
Within the FAYZ, life breaks down while the Darkness takes over, literally—turning the dome-world of the FAYZ entirely black. In darkness, the worst fears of all emerge, and the cruelest of intentions are carried out. But even in their darkest moments, the inhabitants of the FAYZ maintain a will to survive and a desire to take care of the others in their ravaged band that endures, no matter what the cost.
Fear, Michael Grant’s fifth book in the bestselling dystopian Gone series, will thrill readers . . . even as it terrifies them
Review:
Fear is probably my most favourite book in the series because the plot change up a little and we get to know about what is happening at the outside world too. I love it that Sam and Caine didn’t fight much in this book and Caine finally come to his senses, not that I am sure if he is truly not evil anymore but he did help Sam and the others to fight gaiaphage.
In Fear, the people are plunged into the darkness after the dome is slowly and painstakingly turn dark with every passing minutes. With no light, they have to face with the probability of hunger and chaos. But first thing first, they would have to defeat Drake. Drake is merciless and he happily follow the orders of the gaiaphage to kill people. He is even more delighted when the gaiaphage orders him to catch Diana but I don’t think he is that delighted though because he also get a strong order to NOT kill Diana. Hah.
The kids in the FAYZ really have no break to the agony and terror at all. The author have no end in putting the characters into mind and body challenges every time.
What delights me most about this book is that we get to know something about the outside world!! Yay! We finally get to know more about Sam and Caine’s mom and what the people out there is actually doing.
My most favourite character in Fear is… Astrid! I never really like her before but in this book she transform to another person who is more tough and self dependent. That’s what I like. Another thing that happen that was totally unexpected happened to Diana. Oh my, how could this happen? I started to like Diana since Plague and I am so sad to see what happen to her in this book later. I really hope she can save herself and the baby later. Please Michael Grant, you can’t be that cruel.
My most favourite moment in this book is when the darkness suddenly faded and the gaiaphage did something so unexpected and I am sure my jaw must have hit the ground hard when I read what happen. If you already read the book then you must know what I’m talking about. I also love it that Sam finally doesn’t care what people think of him anymore and instead focus on to what is more important.
Fear is my most favourite book of the series and I think the last book might be my second favourite. I am so curious how the author is going to end all this madness but I sure do know it’s going to be epic. Can’t wait for the Light to get my hands on the 6th installment!!

Review:
Okay! WOW! This novel is amazing!! I’m surprised at just how much I enjoyed reading this novel!
The Legend of the Blue Eyes is the first novel in the trilogy and let me tell you, its worth a read! B. Kristin McMichael has a new and original take on Vampires and the Vampire World. Divided into clans the Vampires or rather ‘night humans’ are at war and Arianna(main character) is the only hope of uniting them. Arianna is an captivating character, she’s sweet, kind, and strong. Of all the characters in this book, I really liked Devin! He was tough, deep and complicated. He’s a fierce warrior who has his own secrets and duties to Arianna and the world of the night humans. The Legend of the Blue Eyes has a great story-line and the characters are so lovable, fun and in a sense made the book come alive. Overall, it’s a captivating story with romance and danger, and I really think this novel will develop into something great, I cannot wait to see what happens in the next novel! I highly recommend it!

Bailey wasn’t always a wild child and the black sheep of her family. She used to play fiddle and tour the music circuit with her sister, Julie, who sang and played guitar. That ended when country music execs swooped in and signed Julie to a solo deal. Never mind that Julie and Bailey were a duet, or that Bailey was their songwriter. The music scouts wanted only Julie, and their parents were content to sit by and let her fulfill her dreams while Bailey’s were hushed away.
Bailey has tried to numb the pain and disappointment over what could have been. And as Julie’s debut album is set to hit the charts, her parents get fed up with Bailey’s antics and ship her off to granddad’s house in Nashville. Playing fiddle in washed-up tribute groups at the mall, Bailey meets Sam, a handsome and oh-so-persuasive guitarist with his own band. I really really enjoyed this novel, more than I thought I would! This book’s concept is a great mix of paranormal and romance and was a well-written story with many twists and turns that left me guessing until the end. It raises above all vampire/angel stereotype. The author wrote in an effortless manner, which allowed events in the novel unfold by themselves.I enjoyed reading the POVs of Grace, Josh, Seth, and Archer; it will keep you enraptured as the pages turn. Each chapter follows the thoughts of the characters and the situations they are in. The characters are well described and are in the midst of a love triangle, which was probably one of my favourite elements in the novel.. Fall For Me is a great captivating story which was really hard to put down and finishing this novel has left me anticipating the sequel! It’s definitely a MUST READ! In Strange Angels, Dru Anderson has what her grandmother called “the touch.” (Comes in handy when you’re traveling from town to town with your dad, hunting ghosts, suckers, wulfen, and the occasional zombie.) Then her dad turns up dead—but still walking—and Dru knows she’s next. Even worse, she’s got two guys hungry for her affections, and they’re not about to let the fiercely independent Dru go it alone. Will Dru discover just how special she really is before coming face-to-fang with whatever—or whoever— is hunting her?
Review:
This series is my favorite of all time. Yes, I have my reasons–if you’re not looking for a summary, and just want my pure, unfiltered opinion on it, go to the bottom of this review. I’ll try to give a short, un-spoilered summary of it here:Dru Anderson is a sixteen year old girl who just moved to the Middle of Nowhere, USA, with her dad. They move all over the country to kill the things in the Real World, the things that go bump in the night. Dru’s father has taught her how to defend herself, mostly with t’ai chi and firepower. She doesn’t have any friends to speak of, as she’s moved around too much to really keep in touch with anyone, but she worships her father and wants to help him in any way she can.
Dru has something her late grandmother calls “the touch.” It allows her to perceive things that normal people can’t, but the author down’t take this concept and run with it as many others do. The touch is not the focal point of this series at all; it’s more about just trying to stay alive.
When her dad goes off one day to hunt something (he doesn’t tell Dru what, but it seems kind of fishy to her) and comes back the next as a zombie, Dru has to commit patricide in order to save herself. Naturally, she doesn’t want to stay in the house with the rapidly-decaying body of her dad, so she, not thinking from shock, goes to the mall.
There, she meets a boy that she knows from school. Graves offers her a place to stay for the night, she accepts, and from then on, they’re best friends.
Then sh*t goes down.
I’m not going to go into any more details, as the rest of what happens IS the story, but I will say that it’s a pretty damn good book. Dru, while not being particularly likable, is utterly focused on keeping herself and Graves alive, and is rightfully suspicious of the other major character that appears in the book. Graves is wary, for the most part, and has a good head on his shoulders. Overall, the characters are well-rounded and thoroughly thought out.
My only complaint of this book (and it’s only this book, not the entire series) is the focus on Graves’ race–half white, half asian. Yes, we get that he’s “mixed.” Thanks. If you’re looking to buy this for someone else, or for sensitive readers, Strange Angels (and the rest of the series) is chock-full of swears, and Jesus Christs, and Dear Gods, and so on. However, if you/the person you’re buying for is mature, this shouldn’t be a problem.
I should mention that if you’re looking for romance, this book is not one you should read–Dru is kind of a jerk, and she’s unsure of herself and her companions, and most of all, she’s trying to survive. Throughout the book, she’s thinking not of who has the most beautiful smile, or how sexy they are, or how she imagines a kiss from one of them would be–she’s focusing completely on getting to a safe place so she can plan revenge on whatever killed her dad.
There are two sides to every story.

Book three in the Honor Series

As secrets begin to unravel, will she be able to look passed them or will she have to leave William and start life new again?
Review:
I’m just going to say it out right…I might include spoilers in this review so if you haven’t read it be warned.
Ok with that being said….holy crap!! I mean this book had a little bit of everything, love, anger, heartbreak. The book flowed beautifully from the last one to this so it didn’t leave you wondering if you missed anything. Reading this I wish I could have gone back and NOT read Honor thy teacher so I could be blissfully naive, however I didn’t so now I found myself second guessing EVERYTHING William did. But then again maybe that is what Teresa wants us to do
When Emma wanted William to meet her Aunt I was like oh crap how is he going to get out of this, and then bam all of a sudden he has an emergency meeting with his lawyer and is gone for hours???? What are you up to Mr. Honor? Hmmmmm….. Then the issue with her Aunt I was like oh no!!!! PLEASE tell me he didn’t have anything to do with it. Of course the way he cared for her afterwords was sweet. You could feel the way he loved her. I never once second guessed it.
Eh the funeral was hard. William’s actions really made me second guess everything he did up to that point. It was just how distant he was. However the scene with Allison.. Really why the he was he thinking?? I wanted to smack the shit out of him. I mean yes the way that he pushed her hands away from him clearly showed he wasn’t interested but seriously could he not have picked a worse place. The accident was horrible and when William woke up and immediately told her to call him Will, I was like SHIT! However again because I’ve read his point of view and had a dose of his thinkings, I can’t help but think is this real, does he really not remember anything. Honestly I want to believe that he did not remember anything when he woke up initially. However I still have that nagging feeling that it’s all a ploy. He could tell Emma was going to leave him, so this is his way of keeping her close.
Maybe he did forget and got his memory back too. I mean how can he be completely obsessed with her and need to be near her when she left him and refuse to speak to him. And the fact that he remembers pretty much everything else.
Last but not least…I wanted to fist pump the air..yes I said fist pump the air watching Emma blossom. I LOVED her being dominant. Watching her with William I was awesome. Maybe it’s What they both need. I guess we will need to wait now until the next one to answer all the questions and really see what is going on. Well done Teresa.
Emma lives a very self-destructive life, barely making her way through college. Her world is turned upside down after meeting Mr. Honor, her new history teacher whose idea of discipline may be a little too much for Emma to handle. While trying to figure out their new relationship, they also have to deal with the very real possibility that someone has discovered their secret and is trying to hurt them. But Mr. Honor is keeping a few secrets of his own from Emma.
Review:
I read some reviews before reading this book and SO many people compared to to 50 Shades that I figured I had to read it. Because if it was anything like that book I would like it. In my opinion there were similarities between the two books, the main one being that William and Christian are alike. They both are Doms and have a need for control. They both have a bit of a tortured past and they both fall for a girl that they don’t want to corrupt, but can’t seem to stay away from. But that is where the similarities end, I think. The story lines are completely different.I really enjoyed getting to know William. He was sort of unpredictable, especially at the beginning. I sure wasn’t expecting that first bit of discipline he enforced during school hours. Completely took me by surprise. One thing I found kind of weird was how he never really asked Emma about her past. He never asked her why she lived with her aunt. Oh well, there are more books in this series so I’m assuming they have more time to learn about each other.
I loved the times where William’s emotions showed through. He was a very closed off person and shut down before his emotions started show. But there were a few times, more towards the end of the book where he let his guard down. The time I’m thinking of in particular that I loved was when she we was sunbathing and he ran to her not being able to stand the thought of her possibly being through with him. Loved it!
OK so this whole review has been about William. I liked Emma, too. I liked that she didn’t stick around when she felt unwanted. As soon as William rejected her she turned tail and ran. Self preservation I guess. But I liked that about her. I liked that even though her character could have been very emotionally needy, (after everything that happened her in family) but she wasn’t. I also liked that even though she would submit to William, she still pushed the boundaries and pushed him when he hurt her. The part I have in mind is when she went to the club and danced with Jeff. I’m glad she didn’t let him bully her.
I can’t wait to read Honor Thy Teacher, I really want to get into Williams head and see things from his point of view. I’m so glad there is more story to come after these two books. I can’t wait!
QUOTE
I placed my hand on his chest, feeling his pulse race under my fingertips. He grabbed my hand and pressed it harder against him.
“You are the only person who has ever made my heart race like this.”
He was the one man I couldn’t avoid. And the one man I couldn’t resist.
Damien Stark could have his way with any woman. He was sexy, confident, and commanding: Anything he wanted, he got. And what he wanted was me.
Our attraction was unmistakable, almost beyond control, but as much as I ached to be his, I feared the pressures of his demands. Submitting to Damien meant I had to bare the darkest truth about my past—and risk breaking us apart.
But Damien was haunted, too. And as our passion came to obsess us both, his secrets threatened to destroy him—and us—forever.
Release Me is an erotic romance intended for mature audiences
Review:
***This copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.***
I loved this book. And I absolutely LOVED Damien Stark. I know the synopsis says this is a great read for fans of Fifty and BTY, and I agree.. it fits the whole sexy billionaire theme, but I think it’s good enough that it can stand on it’s own instead of being just a book to get your Fifty fix. The characters had great depth and explosive chemistry!
Release Me is incredibly well-written. The way the author describes everything makes you feel like you’re right in the book experiencing everything. Towards the beginning of the book, J. Kenner describes a painting, and not only did I feel like I was standing right in front of that painting, I felt like I could actually feel what the artist felt while painting it. Her writing was wonderful and brought so much to the story.
The story itself… was it similar to Fifity? Absolutely. But I feel like the characters were different and unique and stand apart from Christian and Ana or Gideon and Eva.
Damien Stark is a retired tennis pro. He made millions winning championships and left tennis to put those millions into his business interests becoming an uber successful entrepreneur. With movie star good looks, he has his pick of any woman he wants, but he only has eyes for Nikki; and he’s not used to taking no for an answer. Damien is beyond intense, but I absolutely loved how he teased and played around with Nikki and I literally swooned all over the place when he called her baby.
Nikki has just moved to LA from Texas. A former pageant queen, she is gorgeous but incredibly smart and aspires to one day own her own business and be as successful as Damien Stark. Their attraction is instant and intense but they both have dark pasts, and opening up to each other is easier said than done. Nikki has an overbearing mother and an abusive past that she is still fighting to overcome, which causes her to keep running from Damien; but she can’t seem to fight her attraction to him.
I absolutely LOVED this book. I loved the intensity, the passion, the storyline. Although Nikki hadn’t had many sexual partners, I loved that she was not portrayed as weak and virginal. She was strong and snarky and stuck up for herself but never saw how strong or beautiful she really was. Damien’s intensity was… intense? Haha. His persistence when it came to Nikki was sexy and sweet. I loved how he felt about her and how he wanted no one but her. And it was so nice to have an intense and alpha male that was still lovable right away. I didn’t need any time to warm up to Damien… I loved him right away. And I just loved their dynamic.
I cannot wait for Claim Me in July 2013!

“” We are having visceral reactions to to one another, Count Montoya. As attractive as you are, I would venture to say that you are accustomed to snaring women’s interest. For my part, I can say with absolute certainty that a similar situation has never happened to me before.”
“I have felt this way about only one other man, and he is lost to me, as your love is to you.”"
#2:
”He was drenched in black, the only relief being his snowy white stockings, cravat, and shirt. And the mask. So plain. Unadorned by paint or feathers. Secured to his head with black satin ribbon. While the other gentlemen in attendance were dressed in an endless range of colors to attract attention, this man’s stark severity seemed designed to blend into the shadows. To make him unremarkable, which he could never be. Beneath the light of hundreds of candles, his dark hair gleamed with vitality and begged a woman to run her fingers through it.
And then there was his mouth…
Amelia inhaled sharply at the sight of it. His mouth was sin incarnate. Sculpted by a master hand, the lips neither full nor thin, but firm. Shamelessly sensual. Framed by a strong chin, chiseled jaw, and swarthy skin. A foreigner, perhaps. She could only imagine how the face would look as a whole. Devastating to a woman’s equanimity, she suspected.
But it was more than his physical attributes that intrigued her. It was the way he moved, like a predator, his gait purposeful and yet seductive, his attention sharply focused. He did not mince his steps or affect the veneer of boredom so esteemed by Society. This man knew what he wanted and lacked the patience to pretend otherwise.
At present it appeared that what he wanted was to follow her. He watched Amelia with a gaze so intensely hot, she felt it move across her body, felt it run through the unpowdered strands of her hair and dance across her bared nape. Felt it glide across her bared shoulders and down the length of her spine. Coveting.
She could not begin to guess how she had attracted his attention. While she knew she was pretty enough, she was not any more attractive than most of the other women here. Her gown, while lovely with its elaborate silver lace underskirts and delicate flowers made of pink and green ribbon, was not the most riveting on display. And she was usually disregarded by those seeking a romantic connection, because her longstanding friendship with the popular Earl of Ware was widely assumed to be leading to the altar. Albeit very slowly.
So what did this man want with her? Why didn’t he approach her?
Amelia canted her body to face him and lowered her mask, staring at him directly so he would not have to wonder if she was looking at him. She left him no doubt, hoping his long legs would resume their deliberate stride and bring him to her. She wanted to experience all the details of him–the sound of his voice, the scent of his cologne, the impact of proximity to his powerful frame.

With perfect flowers, delicious desserts, and joyful moments captured on film, Nora Roberts’s Bride Quartet shares each woman’s emotionally magical journey to romance. In Bed of Roses, florist Emma Grant is finding career success with her friends at Vows wedding planning company, and her love life appears to be thriving. Though men swarm around her, she still hasn’t found Mr. Right. And the last place she’s looking is right under her nose. But that’s just where Jack Cooke is. He’s so close to the women of Vows that he’s practically family, but the architect has begun to admit to himself that his feelings for Emma have developed into much more than friendship. When Emma returns his passion—kiss for blistering kiss—they must trust in their history…and in their hearts.
Review:
Classic love and formulaic romance is in the air, gardens and between friends in Bed of Roses, Nora Roberts’s follow up novel to A Vision in White in the Bride Quartet series. The notion of romance is sweeter than romance itself for Vows florist, Emmaline Grant. A notion that is too sweet, unblemished and on the far end of the reality spectrum. Of all the ladies of Vows, she places the most faith in finding the sort of romance that most people only dream about dreaming about. Substantiating her belief is her own parent’s love story, both picture-perfect and lasting, coupled with her work in the wedding business where she engineers the perfect day for couples everyday. Then there is Jack Cooke, the architect and such close friends of Emma and her friends, he is regarded as their brother. Though an attraction exist between Emma and Jack, as honorary brother, it is never acknowledged and acted on. That is until a series of events changes that. When run-ins lead to conversations, which turn into concrete plans, before they realize it, Emma and Jack are on the brink of a whirl-wind romance. As the undercurrents of their as a friend with a potential for more love surface and their relationship begin to blossom, so do their characters. The formula for romance that has been tried, tested and stays true. Emma is the romance-struck girl meet Jack, the commitment-phobia, steer clear of romance type of man. As Emma and Jack discover new things about each other, they also find a middle ground in how they define, express, and solidify their relationship. No love is truer than one that has been tested. The thorn in their relationship is communication. There are a lot of needs, wants, and idealizations projected by Emma onto Jack, who is both clueless and consciously wary stemming from experience with his parents’ less than perfect marriage. Where Emma is clear on what she wants and very in the moment of showing on she feels, Jack is more cautious and reflective on these things.
Though formulaic, love and romance is still sweet and sweeter when it is shared with families and friends. Through it all they are there for Emma just like her work plays a dominant role in her life. Emma’s work and life of florist is mentioned in abundance that can at times overwhelm and take away from the story.
*Spoilers*
Of course, no cliche would remain true without the perfect ending, the too-soon marriage proposal complete with a dance in the moonlight. It may be true that a woman can never get enough of romance but this story is cutting it close. Then again where love is concerned, we can forgive a lack of originality (perhaps, that is where all those flowers descriptions attempt to cover), and preditability and just savour in the feel good moment that is love.

Review:
I can always count on Nora Roberts to keep me entertained. Be it with a romantic suspense contribution (the recently read Night Tales series) or a straight contemporary (the book I’m reviewing at the moment).Because Vision in White delivered on the promise in the blurb and then some. I absolutely loved it, its “friendship” angle and its “romance” angle. And the characters, oh, the characters were simply amazing. I couldn’t help but love the four girls, I can’t wait for Jake and Del to have bigger roles, I’m impatiently waiting for the mechanic to step into the picture, loved the brides, hated the heroine’s mother (who didn’t?), and I fell for Dr. Maguire (the hero, FYI) the instant he smacked into a wall. I fell for his battleship-sized feet, his klutziness, his cute little quirks, his shyness, and a complete about-face from his everyday persona he showed in the bedroom (*lusty grin*). I know I shouldn’t say this about a guy, but he was just so utterly adorable. There’s no other word I could use for Carter. Adorable, that’s him. This book didn’t make run the whole gamut of emotions, but some (and appropriate facial expressions) were there. I cried a little at the sweet and tender descriptions of Mac’s photos and weddings, I gritted my teeth and rolled my eyes each time Linda (and then Corrinda) stepped into the picture, I kept my fingers crossed whenever Carter and Mac were together, I wanted to yell at Mac for being so spineless (at the beginning) and so stubborn (throughout the rest of the book) to try and sabotage the vest thing that could’ve happened to her, I LOLed at the little zingers she shot around, at the banter between girlfriends, at the wedding biz acronyms, and at the one-liners.This wasn’t a suspense romance, a police procedural or a murder mystery. Nope, this was a straightforward, lightweight (despite some minor issues due to the “patsy gene” the H/h exhibited), cute, sweet, sexy, sensual (I love how NR writes her sex scenes!), romantic, friendly, funny little contemporary romantic comedy.

How far would you go to save everything you ever loved?
Kaliel was warned about her love for the Ferryman. One day he will marry the land and leave Avristar forever. She doesn’t listen, and because of what she is– a Flame– one of nine apocalyptic weapons, she sparks a war. In a desperate attempt to save her home and her love, Kaliel tries to awaken Avred, not knowing she may have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

***This copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.***
I was really touched by this sad and sweet story. The emotions that play out over time from when Kaliel is 14 and Krishani I believe was 15 or 16 and on, they first met at those ages, but their budding love really didn’t hit until later and grew. It was a forbidden love I would call it. I did have some confusion on what the term “to Marry the Land” meant, but guessing since this is a fantasy with the elves, that they would be like monks and nuns to the land? I am not sure, it’s the best way I was able to think of it. What is sad, is that they are told what their destiny is, they have no choices at all in their own life, and that is so sad. It turns out both of them had a bit different future in store for them.
This book is written very well, and really pulls you into this fantasy world. But it’s not so farfetched that you do not believe it, it really is brought to life for you.
I think some of the abilities that Kaliel have are pretty cool, she can “talk” to the trees and animals, as well as sortof communicate with the mermaids that are supposed to be dangerous. She is always running off to swim in the pond or lake, when it’s forbidden to do so. Krishani also seems to be really powerful, but is unable to control his powers. He loosed control when he tries to control the elements like he should, destroying whole areas of trees that are old. He seems to have the best control if he is near Kaliel.
It’s an amazing fantasy book, and highly recommend anyone who likes the paranormal/fantasy type books. It’s truly captivating. You really need to read this. I can’t wait for book 2.

OMFG!!
Wow this series just gets better and better!! I love every single book in this series!
Jace and Aggie’s first interactions are captivating. Aggie is not used to having feelings for men other than the powerful rush that comes from dominating them. Watching these two get to know each other and slowly open up was engaging and entertaining.
Jace’s back story is multiple layers and heartbreaking at almost every turn during his young life. For me, this was the most emotional read of the series. Jace’s story is powerful and complex but one that in the end will warm your heart.
Aggie and Jace’s acceptance of each other was wonderful to see. They wanted to understand each other, not change each other, and this felt genuine to the characters Olivia Cunning created. Aggie works to show Jace that time and love can heal all wounds. Jace’s transformation was realistic and powerful.
The use of the other characters in the book was fun; there is a scene between Brian and Jace that is so male and very well done. Ms. Cunning also did a wonderful job laying out the relationship between Jace and the Sinner’s Drummer Eric Sticks; the interactions will leaving you wanting “Sticks” story as the next read.
Another great installment to this series.
I love love loved this book! I would have to say this book tied with Double Time for my favorites of the series.

“Rubbing the slight sting left on his wrist by Lady Winter’s ring, Christopher found himself desirous of the infamous seductress’s company. What a fine piece she was. Fragile in appearance and fierce in temperament. He knew without question, that his life was about to become far more interesting than it had been of late. It was almost depressing that he had to wait a few days before he could tangle with her again.”

“Christopher turned to the woman who stood tall and proud by the front window. ‘What can I do for you, Mrs…?’
‘Fitzhugh,’ she replied with a lift of her chin. Gray strands of hair curled by the heat and humidity if the kitchen surrounded a face lined with age, but handsome in its features. ‘ ‘e asked me if she was ill or injured. I doona like ‘im, Mr. St. John. ‘e pries.
‘I see. I take it you would prefer he not learn of your lady’s condition.’ She nodded grimly, reddened hands twisting in her apron. ‘er ladyship gave strict orders.’
‘Send him away then.’
‘I canna do that. ‘e settles the accounts.’
Christopher paused, his niggling sense of suspicion flaring into absolute certainty of something amiss. Maria should be settled in her own right, not dependent upon the largesse of her stepfather. He shot a side glance at Philip, who nodded his silent understanding. The matter would be investigated thoroughly.
‘Have you any suggestions?’ Christopher asked, returning his attention to Mrs. Fitzhugh and considering her carefully.
‘I said you were coming to call. Then you were expected and Lady Winter was indisposed.’
‘Hmm… I see. So perhaps I should arrive at the scheduled time, yes?’
‘You wouldna want to be late,’ she agreed.
‘Of course not. Step out in the foyer, Mrs. Fitzhugh, if you would please.
The housekeeper hurried out and Christopher arched a brow at Philip. ‘ Send for Beth. I wish to speak to her this evening.
‘I will see to it.’
Christopher left the room and traversed the short distance to the front parlor, where he entered behind Mrs. Fitzhugh as if he’d only just arrived.”

Review:
**ARC was provided by NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**
I was browsing the YA, section on NetGalley, and found this novel. I’m not sure why they categorized this under Young Adult, its more like a serial novel for children 13 and under.
The two main characters Soledad (Soli for short) and Lucy are 13 years, old. They’re best friend, more like sister, but they are opposites in every way.
So basically, When Lucy does something to betray Soli, they are walking in the enchanted forest, where there are faeries, here Soli wishes Lucy away– she suddenly disappears, and Soli has to try to get her back.
Every few pages, there were illustration, which were well done, they really complimented the words to the story and take the reader deeper into the story. It kind of reminded me of a novel I read in grade 4, The Sisters Grimm series by Michael Buckley.
It’s a solid read, but nothing like I expected. I expected something more like the novel A Shimmer of Angels, a fun, entertaining, original read, where you get attached to the characters, can’t put the book down, read til 4 am and cant wait to read the next novel in the series.
Overall, it was a solid read, it was original. The story like was okay, a VERY VERY VERY easy read, it made a pleasant read but, it wan NOT a YA novel!

Wow! From the minute I started I was hooked! It was a quick read that left me wanting more! Just One Night, Part 1: The Stranger is a great read, and a superb way to start off a series. The twists and turns keep the reader on edge, while reading the novel. The novel starts off with Kasie, (the main character) and Simone, her best friend, in Vegas for the weekend, before she settles down with her boyfriend of six years. While in Vegas, Simone gives Kasie some bad advice-’sleep with a stranger’. ‘sleep with a stranger she does, from this passionate on night with this stranger (Mr.Dade), to sooo much more, Kasie wasn’t prepared for him in her town, wanting to work with her, however this is exactly what she finds happening. No matter how much she wants to be rid of him, she can’t escape him. The novel ends with Kasie walking away from Robert Dade, because of the text message she had received from her fiancé Dave, who at this point is very angry. In a sense you get this look into Dave and wonder what’s going to happen next. CLIFFHANGER!!! Ugh! L I really enjoyed this novel, it was well written; I cannot wait until the next installment comes out in March! J

Description:
Some memories are better left untouched.
Ethan was abducted from his front yard when he was just seven years old. Now, at sixteen, he has returned to his family.
It’s a miracle… at first.
Then the tensions start to build. His reintroduction to his old life isn’t going smoothly, and his family is tearing apart all over again. If only Ethan could remember something, anything, about his life before, he’d be able to put the pieces back together.
But there’s something that’s keeping his memory blocked.
Something unspeakable…
Review:
The story opens with Ethan reuniting with his family after being abducted nine years earlier. The family agrees that Ethan has grown and changed a bit, but this is Ethan. He has some emotional issues and can’t remember the details of his youth but he seems to fit in and the family goes to counseling in order to come to grips with the hurt they have all experienced. He now has a little sister, Grace and his younger brother, Blake, still remembers the fateful day when he was taken even though he was only four. There are some details that just don’t add up in Blake’s mind. The psychologist and his parents agree that because of the traumatic experience, it is only normal that he can’t remember anything. As Blake becomes more suspicious and starts to learn genetics in school. he puts things together and they just don’t add up.
If you are a fan of the Twilight Zone, this book fits in nicely with that television show. Right when you think things are *normal* there is a weird twist and when that happens, the world shifts. The De Wilde family is torn apart by Ethan’s return and even though they are overjoyed with the reunion, Blake doesn’t give an inch in his belief that Ethan should remember something from his past, even if he did suffer terrible abuse. Ethan’s relationship with his siblings are polar opposites where Blake is his enemy and Grace becomes his fan. Ethan also starts to have a relationship with Cami, the girl down the street he grew up with and continues even though he knows Blake has a crush on her. Cami believes this is the Ethan she knew since birth.
I read this in just a few hours and at times, I had tears. The story of abduction is just so emotional and the majority of these stories are told from the point of view of the parents. So when that is changed, the whole thing takes on more punch. I am trying not to give away any of the details, but the last few pages of this book are packed with a punch. The psychological build up provided by McMann leads to things I just didn’t see coming even though once I finished it, I could see where she was going. I really enjoyed this one. There are mentions of abuse, language and some kissing but nothing to hard to take.

“Minutes before the end of class, I turned and reached into my backpack as an excuse to sneak a look at the guy on the back row. He was staring at me, a black pencil loose between his fingers, tapping the notebook in front of him. He slouched into his seat, one elbow over the back of it, one booted foot casually propped on the support under his desk. As our eyes held, his expression changed subtly from unreadable to the barest of smiles, though guarded. He didn’t look away, even when I glanced into my bag and back to him.”
#2:
“I guessed that the rose tattoo was a possible clue, given its place over his heart. Most of the ink on his arms consisted of symbols and intricate motifs, and I wondered if any of these were his own design. He shifted onto his back then, and I could finally read the words on his left side:
Love is not the absence of logic
but logic examined and recalculated
heated and curved to fit
inside the contours of the heart ”
#3:
” “So I don’t want to you to feel pressured. Or overpowered. But I do, absolutely, want to kiss you right now. Badly.” He trailed his finger over my jaw and down my throat, and then into his lap. I stared at him. Finally comprehending that he was waiting for a response, I said, “Okay.” —-As he leaned over me, I felt a heightened awareness of every part of my body that touched a part of his–the edge of his hip pressed to mine, his chest sliding against mine, his fingers tracing from wrists to forearms and then framing my face. He held me in place, lips near my ear. When he kissed the sensitive spot, my breath shuddered. “You’re so beautiful,” he whispered, moving his mouth to mine.”

Review:
****I have recently received an ARC courtesy of Shelley Workinger!****
What a perfect conclusion to the Solid series! I’ve been following this book from the beginning, I couldn’t wait to see how it ended. I loved this trilogy, the characters and the plot. I would be hard pressed to decide which book was my favorite. I enjoyed all three books and think all three worked well to make a great trilogy that told the story of Clio and her friends during the summer they deal with finding out what happened to them well.
The characters continue to be wonderful in this book. Clio continues her struggle to balance wanting her alone time and her typical way of dealing with things with how it works to be friends with a group and come to count on others. A lot has happen in the past few months and lots of consequences of the choices she makes are coming back to her. I like Clio, she feels real, like a normal teenaged girl even with her powers that she has secretly without her knowledge been given. There are some minor characters that the reader finally gets more of. Garrett is hysterical with his cockiness and humor. Miranda just being Miranda. Bliss with her sweet naivete. Alexis’ tough exterior but strong desire to fit in with the group. Rae and Xavier’s toughness have really been great addition to the group since the second book. And of course Jack, wonderful, adorable Jack. Each character brings something to the book, and it’s not just their powers, it’s their personalities. That’s what really contributes to the story and had me enjoying every page. The plot is exciting cause of the loose ends the author is trying up. I love that every aspect of Clio’s life is well explained. Clio is not perfect. She makes mistakes and faces what she done. She pushed everything aside and stood up for what is important.
It was a good light suspense tale with the characters still taking the front seat. I enjoyed the plot, and enjoyed seeing where it was going. I was surprised at the ending. I think it was the perfect way for the author to end the series. She left things open enough for a future sequel, but closed enough to give her readers closure. I hope there is a sequel sometime in the future, because I’d love to read more about the Solid characters and spend some more time in their world!

A group of twenty-two teens has been chosen to reenact the ultimate battle between good and evil. But it’s not always clear who is on which side….
A dazzling novel in the most untraditional fashion, this is the remarkable story of Henry DeTamble, a dashing, adventuresome librarian who travels involuntarily through time, and Clare Abshire, an artist whose life takes a natural sequential course. Henry and Clare’s passionate love affair endures across a sea of time and captures the two lovers in an impossibly romantic trap, and it is Audrey Niffenegger’s cinematic storytelling that makes the novel’s unconventional chronology so vibrantly triumphant.
An enchanting debut and a spellbinding tale of fate and belief in the bonds of love, The Time Traveler’s Wife is destined to captivate readers for years to come.
Review:
I loved this book. It’s not perfect, but it made me feel and think and want. It’s one of those stories that pulls you into the characters’ lives and leaves you wanting more, mulling over the scenes and premise for days after you’ve reluctantly turned the last page. Rarely is such an original idea portrayed with such vivid language so you believe the time travel possibility and the characters are almost people you know. It’s about a guy who involuntarily travels time. He can never predict where or when he will jump the time/space continuum, but when he does, he is drawn toward significant events and people in his life. The science fiction is a medium for a love story, not a cheesy or unrealistic (besides time travel which she makes believable) one, but a deep enduring love in for the long haul of life and hardship, told from both his and her perspective, and how time travel affects their lives and relationship. It starts when Henry meets Claire for the first time and she is ecstatic to finally have found the love of her life in the present. Henry must get to know this stranger introduced to him as his future wife and Claire has to nurture him into the man she loves. As you relive scenes from Claire’s past and Henry’s future you see how they fall in love, at different times with someone already madly in love with them, and conquer the challenge of his disorder. Because their relationship is non-chronological, you discover events out of order–as do they–making the story interesting and leaving you with the same sense of longing the characters feel.
I thought the odd age difference, Henry playing father figure to the girl who will be his wife, was handled well instead of pedophileish, as was the delve into both Henry’s and Claire’s minds and emotions (although I wish their voices differed more) to get a better grasp of how this condition would affect normal life. I really cared about these characters. Henry trying to protect Claire and Claire left wanting. In one scene she is racing to meet him after a prolonged absence and he fades before she can reach him. I felt for her, what she had to sacrifice to revolve and dedicate her life to him. Some of the minor characters strange and distracting, but overall the story is powerful and vivid.
One is left to question the origin of fate and ethics. Does the past affect the future or the future the past? Or is it all predestined? Claire knows what dates Henry will visit because he gives her the dates he memorized from her diary and told her to write down so he could later memorize them. Where did the knowledge originate? How would you explain and hide abnormalities? What would you consider ethical in playing with time? I didn’t have a problem with the thievery (he transfers nude) but I did with using money knowledge from the future. There is a lot left to contemplate.
Be forewarned, there’s a lot of loving in the story, and not just the act, but the dirty reference to the deed as well. I think Niffenegger must have wanted to steer clear of being too cheesy so she regrettably went too far the other direction. Many of the sex scenes are graphically portrayed, but there is one scene, only hinted at, the idea of which almost made me close the book. Gratefully the concept didn’t linger, but unfortunately the language did. Gratuitous and unnecessary for the story, oh but what a story.

Don DiMarco has a very good life – a family he loves, a comfortable lifestyle, passions and interests that keep him amused. He also thought he had time, but that turned out not to be the case. Faced with news that might have immediately felled most, Don now wonders if he has time enough. Time enough to show his wife the romance he didn’t always lavish on her. Time enough to live out his most ambitious fantasies. Time enough to close the circle on some of his most aching unresolved relationships. Summoning an inner strength he barely realized he possessed, Don sets off to prove that twelve months is time enough to live a life in full.
A glorious celebration of each and every moment that we’re given here on Earth, as well as the eternal bonds that we all share, TWELVE MONTHS is a stirring testament to the power of the human spirit.
Review:
**I received an ARC courtesy of Steven Manchester**
Twelve Months by Steven Manchester is a novel about living. Don is diagnosed with stage four cancer and is given a year to live. So he lives. The book follows his journey through a bucket list and back to his family’s side. Twelve months is definitely a must read. This is one of those books that I think has something for everyone, and the message is timeless. I’d say it is a story that will bring tears to many of its readers’ eyes, get to their very souls and teach them a life lesson.
When Don Di Marco, a satisfied man with a great life, is diagnosed with cancer and told he has twelve months to live, he decides to live his remaining days to the full, and complete the things he never had a chance to.
Twelve Months is a well written, engaging book that really makes the reader wonder what they would do if they were in the unfortunate position of Don. Don DiMarco’s experiences, endurance, generosity and kindness are displayed throughout the entire book giving it a deep sense of humanity and humbleness that one wouldn’t expect from most people, much less someone who’s about to die. More importantly Don proves that the old saying “Slow and steady wins the race” is truth.
Don DiMarco became a real person for me, I laughed when he did and when he joked. Then cried hard and profusely when he faced sadness, as well as through basically the last 10 pages.
I can only say go read it, you won’t be sorry. You’ll enjoy a wonderful and inspiring story, and you’ll have something to go to whenever you feel like it’s hard to keep fighting and want some encouragement.

It’s been more than a year since every person over the age of fourteen disappeared from the town of Perdido Beach, California. In that time, countless battles have been fought: Battles against hunger and lies and plagues and worse, battles of good against evil, and kid against kid. Allegiances have been won, lost, betrayed, and won again; ideologies have been shattered and created anew, and the kids of the FAYZ have begun to believe that their new society is the only life they’ll ever know. But now that the Darkness has found a way to be reborn, the tenuous existence they‘ve established is likely to be shattered for good. Will the kids of Perdido Beach even survive?
Light, the sixth and final book in the New York Times bestselling Gone series (which has spanned more than 3,000 pages!) asks as many profound and provocative questions as it answers, while bestselling mastermind and author Michael Grant creates an unforgettable, arresting conclusion that readers won’t able to stop talking about.
The new Abby Abernathy is a good girl. She doesn’t drink or swear, and she has the appropriate percentage of cardigans in her wardrobe. Abby believes she has enough distance between her and the darkness of her past, but when she arrives at college with her best friend, her path to a new beginning is quickly challenged by Eastern University’s Walking One-Night Stand. Travis Maddox, lean, cut, and covered in tattoos, is exactly what Abby needs—and wants—to avoid. He spends his nights winning money in a floating fight ring, and his days as the ultimate college campus charmer. Intrigued by Abby’s resistance to his appeal, Travis tricks her into his daily life with a simple bet. If he loses, he must remain abstinent for a month. If Abby loses, she must live in Travis’s apartment for the same amount of time. Either way, Travis has no idea that he has met his match.
My Thoughts:
I couldn’t put this book down, even though I probably should have. I enjoyed the book but I’m not sure why (I only curled up in the fetal position on the floor of my shower weeping manly tears of shame while muttering “why?”, like twice after all). I liked the main female character (not really) even though I thought she displayed the intellectual capacity of mentally challenged rock in many places. The whole initial sleeping arrangements thing…really? Really? Sticking around after one particular sequence (those who have read this hopefully know to what I am referring). Seriously?!!?! Which brings me to the main reason this is only getting a 3 star score from me: I’m not sure why everyone thinks the main male lead is such an awesome catch…he struck me as an arrogant, jealous (to the point of being creepy) douchebag ( but at least he’s a ripped, douchebag who is tougher than an MMA fighter and has the brain of an astrophysicist [too bad it didn't come with a manual instructing how to properly use it when it comes to matters of the heart, but hey! He's all alpha and oozes testosterone from his pores and apparently that's all women want or need in a man, judging by the fact that every women he comes into contact with seems to offer her vagina on a silver platter, so no big deal!]) with a penchant for naming women after birds that like to poop on everything…possibly a metaphor for what this new girl is doing to his life of man-whoring debauchery (he is a genius after all, so clearly there has to be a clever meaning behind it). At least he uses protection, though, so he’s somewhat (but not really) responsible (however, methinks he learned to do this the hard way after casting his metaphorical rod into the metaphorical female equivalent of the Ganges river one time too many and coming up with nothing but a bad case of the old crotch rot…hmmmm…do I sense some fan fiction coming, but I digress).
He kind of (but not really) gets better as the story goes on, I suppose, although he does continue to allow his jealously to get him to do things that would have him arrested in a heartbeat if we were in the real world, but whatever. Maybe I’m just not alpha or manly enough to understand, I mean, I thought treating women with respect and not being an asshat was the way to go (thanks to Ms. MacGuire, I learned the error of my un-manly ways and discovered most women are vapid and easy. Thanks for showing me the error of my ways [but not really]). I was afraid our intrepid hero’s “dead sexy manly” actions would spell disaster for our lovely young couple’s blossoming romance, but thankfully LOVE! (*cough* co-dependency *cough* *cough* excuse me) conquers all!Anyhoo, with all this rambling it may seem like I hated this book. Not at all! Much like a junkie getting kicked out of rehab for shooting up the smack he smuggled in his anus, I continually keep coming back to these type of stories! It’s a love/hate relationship! I just want to see how the story is going to end…even though I sort of already do. I guess it’s all about the hero’s/heroine’s journey, and what a journey it is! More twists and turns than a mountain road and just when you think it’s over, BAM! you get a flat tire and have to switch vehicles and start another leg of said journey! What other YA (or is it?…duhn duhn dunnnnnnnnn) story about love blossoming between two college kids will give you fight clubs, mobsters, and fires! OH MY! Not enough for you? Well, have some poker, sex, angst, sex, jealousy, brooding, sex, childhood trauma extraordinaire, token gay character who has no purpose but to be the stereotypical token gay character…and act FAAAAAAAABULOUS!, Vegas, gambling, hustling (not the “sexy” kind), hustling (the “sexy” kind), gratuitous studying, gratuitous frat boys, the expected underage drinking, some gratuitous “in-hindsight-i-didnt really-think-this-through-so-I-wish-upon-a-star-this-relationship-works-out-or-I’ll-feel-really-stupid” tattooing, and a little “we’re-just-friends-even-though-we-clearly-want-to-bone-and-though-I-claim-to-not-really-like-him-I-will-sleep-in-the-same-bed-with-him-platonically-of-course-for-a-month-because-I-never-back-out-of-a-bet?” magic! Oh! Almost forgot! Let’s throw in some “two chicks at the same time” action as well!
This is such a guilty pleasure for me. I will likely read it again (not really). You know what? Screw it! This is gonna get 5 stars from me! Maybe they can do a Mystery Romance Theater 3000 version of this book with three funny authors (Tom Servo, Joel Hodgson/Mike Nelson, and Crow T. Robot) writing footnotes and annotations poking good humored fun at the book. Now where did I put that copy of “Manos the Hands of Fate”..

“Errand requiring immediate attention. Come.
The note was on vellum, pierced by the talons of the almost-crow that delivered it. Karou read the message. ‘He never says please’, she sighed, but she gathered up her things.
When Brimstone called, she always came.”
In general, Karou has managed to keep her two lives in balance. On the one hand, she’s a seventeen-year-old art student in Prague; on the other, errand-girl to a monstrous creature who is the closest thing she has to family. Raised half in our world, half in ‘Elsewhere’, she has never understood Brimstone’s dark work – buying teeth from hunters and murderers – nor how she came into his keeping. She is a secret even to herself, plagued by the sensation that she isn’t whole.
Now the doors to Elsewhere are closing, and Karou must choose between the safety of her human life and the dangers of a war-ravaged world that may hold the answers she has always sought.
Review:
Once upon a time, an angel and a devil fell in love.
It did not end well…..
Wow. Let me just say….wow! I’m not sure I have the words to truly do this book justice……
This book sure has being getting its fair share of raving reviews and I admit I certainly had high expectations of what I was gonna get, but let me say….I have never, ever read anything like this before. This book is one of a kind….totally, completely. Laini Taylor takes the story of angels and demons and takes it in a direction that’s never been told; creating a world that is so uniquely it’s own, you simply can’t compare it to anything else. There is nothing like this out there. These kinds of books are a rarity; a once in a lifetime kind of thing.
This book is pure magic. Plain and simple. The writing is magic in and of itself and Taylor weaves together a story filled with wonder and mystery. The words seem to dance and float off the pages and from the very first chapter you’re caught. As you follow Karou on her journey, you never know what to expect. Most of the story is seen through her eyes and you only know what she knows. Even I admit I thought I knew what was going on. There was a moment I thought, “Oh, yeah, I’ve seen this kind of thing before. I know what it means and how it will end.” However, I…..Was….Wrong! One thing I learnt pretty quickly, is that you can never assume with this book, because I can almost guarantee you…..you will be wrong. Laini Taylor will surprise you every time and the outcome and the end result will be so far from what you were expecting that you just won’t know what to think.
I don’t want to give too much away, because honestly this is the kind of book you really need to read for yourself to fully comprehend what I’m saying, but the creatures in this story aren’t your run off the mill. They’re quirky and different and harsh and beautiful. Lord, I can’t say it enough. There’s nothing out there like this. Not the world, not the myth, not the characters and people who call it home. Think you know angels and demons? Eerrk…wrong answer! These “angels and demons” are from a completely different world and you will be entranced by them.
I adored Karou and you will too. She’s so quirky and witty. She’s an intelligent young woman in the middle of a very mixed up world, one who really doesn’t know who and what she is. And yet she does, she really does. Karou is searching for the key to her past and who she is, but she has such a strong sense of self. Sheknows what she feels and she feels it. She loves Brimstone and Issa and everyone else in her “family”. She loves her best friend Zuzanna and is always there for her. She knows she’s in the middle of a war between those she loves and those who wish to do them harm. She hears the stories being told to her, but she knowsthe people—ahhh, creatures, in her life and how they truly are. She knows she feels something for Akvia and knows it makes no sense….but it’s there and it means something.
Karou is brave and not afraid to stand up for what she believes in and boy could this girl handle her known. Hell, she goes ninja on an angel twice her size and is waaay more trained than she is. And she wins! Trust me this girl will intrigue you with her strength and mystery and win you over with her flaws and vulnerabilities.
And as for Akiva….let me just swoon for a little bit and then I’ll get back to the review. At first, I kind of thought I was going to get your typical angel, but Laini Taylor does it again and he’s nothing like what I expected. He’s so damaged and haunted, which on the surface may not seem so different, but when you look closer and read more of the book, you see him for what he is. Akiva was the character that drew the most emotion from me. Really, he’s been through the most and as we see both his past and witness his present, his grief and his anguish really sweeps through within the story. It’s impossible not to feel for him in his moments of complete devastation and helplessness. Honestly, I found myself sharing Karou feelings a lot during this book; I simply wanted to see him smile.
For everything it is, I can’t see this book being rivalled. I may have said it already, but you can’t compare this book to most out there. It simply cannot be done. Even the ending will leave you wanting to bang your head against the wall or cry because it’s over. Or both, either way it works. The ending simply leaves you shell shocked and wondering how the hell Taylor can end it like that. Doesn’t she realise that the wait for the sequel might possibly kill us? Trust me, this ending is one you won’t see coming, not after all Karou and Akiva have been through together already…..
And on a final note, I’m kinda annoyed right now too, because if you’re reading my review then you’re not reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone and you should really, REALLY should be reading Daughter of Smoke and Bone. I don’t want to sound rash, but you need to be reading this book. Go buy a copy, like right now! Don’t have the money? Well, I may point out that you have two kidneys and you only need one of those—so go sell your spare and get the book.
Haha. Kidding! Maybe. Really, I’m not quite sure. This book deserves everyone of it’s 5 stars and I CANNOT wait for more!

What if you wake up hung-over the following morning, not dead, but realizing that you had killed somebody? Even worse, what if you wake up in the morning realizing you destroyed the things you loved most in your life? When she regained consciousness in the hospital scared and alone, Kate realized the nightmare was a reality… her parents were dead… her soul-mate was in prison… her life would never be the same.
Through the eyes of many, Troy Trindle had it all… he was good-looking, popular, captain of the football team and dating the head cheerleader. What he lacked were the basic necessities; food, shelter and a family.
Kate and Troy’s worlds collide when she moves to Alabama to resume training for a spot on the Olympic Gymnastics Team
Review:
**The novel was given to me by the author herself through the Goodreads ‘First Reads’ program…**
It’s not everyday that one reads a book of gymnastics and football. A book, that intrigues from the start.
Wendi Finn’s debut novel, One Fateful Night, explores the life of Kate Kennedy, a teenager going through high school and a rising hopeful for the Olympics, when a tragedy changes everything. Throughout the novel, Kate attempts to live through the tragic incident, which causes her to lose her family and her best friend. Kate starts a new life in Alabama, and through new friendships and their support, she is able to survive the horrors of the accident.
Positive aspects of this novel:
-The characters:
I loved how compelling the main characters were, and it just made me want to read more about them. I found myself thinking about the characters from the day I started reading the novel. From the beginning of the novel ‘til the end, I loved the progression of Kate and Troy’s(the main characters) relationship. Their relationship was soooo perfect; how a couple should be; loving, always caring, and worrying for each other.
-The beginning/progression of the novel:
I loved the beginning of the novel, getting to know the characters, especially Kate and all she’s been through. Her relation ship with Troy; how loving and caring he is!! Learning about gymnastics (OMG! It sounds sooo difficult, and painful, i.e, when Kate acquire a injury, which lead to a fever) and football. Kate’s one lucky girl; having the whole Grand Bay High football team care about her!!!!
Negative aspects of this novel:
-The only real issue:
Needs minor editing, but just words, (ie, on pg 80 [near the bottom of the page] >> hear instead of here, and pg 311 [near the top of the page]>> ‘He pushes me when I need pushed (need to be pushed) and he catches me when I fall”)
Some scenarios where hard to believe: like the fact that that adults in the novel would be okay with the living situation (Kate and Troy), the social worker, “Wanda” was mentioned a few times and never officially made an appearance
-The plot: which I loved, but some parts, like A cute little gymnast has a bunch of football players fawning over her after the tragedy, the fact that they have to constantly prove that they are really her friends and they won’t bail on her like her friends in Georgia.
******
Overall, this book was very entertaining. From the start the reader is captivated wanting to continue reading, but their hopes are let down, where the way the story ends. After reading I immediately wanted more. Finally, having won this novel through the Goodreads ‘First Reads’, it ended up being a good read. I also plan on reading it again.
I highly recommend it!
I took a look at the author’s blog, and found out that there’s going to be a sequel [OMG OMG!! I’m soooo excited!! Can’t wait!! >> (A Leap of Faith)]!! I really want to find out what happens when Kate has to choose between Troy and Colton in Alabama.

In BETROTHED (Book #6 in the Vampire Journals), Caitlin and Caleb find themselves, once again, back in time this time, in the London of 1599.London in 1599 is a wild place, filled with paradoxes: while on the one hand it is an incredibly enlightened, sophisticated time, breeding playwrights like Shakespeare, on the other, it is also barbaric and cruel, with daily public executions, torture, and heads of prisoners impaled on spikes. It is also a time of superstition and grave public danger, with a lack of sanitation, and the Bubonic Plague spreading in the streets, carried by rats.
In this environment Caitlin and Caleb land, on the search for her father, for the third key, for the mythical shield that can save humankind. Their mission takes them through a whirlwind of London’s most amazing medieval architecture, through the British countryside’s most breathtaking castles. It takes them back into the heart of London, where they just might meet Shakespeare himself, and see one of his plays live. It brings them to a little girl, Scarlet, who just might become their daughter. And all the while, Caitlin’s love for Caleb deepens, as finally they are together and as Caleb might just finally find the perfect time, and place, to propose to her.
Sam and Polly have traveled back, too, and as they find themselves stuck together on their own journey, their relationship deepens, as they each, despite themselves, can’t help feeling more deeply for each other.
But all is not well. Kyle has come back, too, as has his evil sidekick, Sergei, and they are both intent on destroying everything good in Caitlin’s life. It will be a race to the finish, as Caitlin is forced to make some of the hardest decisions of her life if she is to save everyone who is dear to her, save her relationship with Caleb and try to make it out alive.
Review:
Yeah Thanks to the wonderful Morgan Rice this was free e-book for her fans that are on her newsletter started reading it as soon as I got the email.
Caitlin and Caleb and Sam and Polly are taken back to London 1599. Caitlin and Caleb and the too cute Ruth are together at the Westminster Abby. It took a minute for Caitlin to remember got me scared for a minute that she would not remember Caleb after all they have been thru but after a couple of minutes her memory started coming back like a computer uploading data of course her trusty wolf Ruth is there to welcome Caitlin. Caitlin and Caleb are on a mission to find the 3rd key in quest to find her father and get the shield to save the human race. Caitlin and Caleb are joint by those in her past her brother Sam and the funny and happy Polly and those from her last travel also join them in the quest to help Caitlin get the key. This is alway not easy for Caitlin as Kyle and Sergei are always causing trouble this time they are doing it in their own ways. Betrothed did have a wonderful unexpected turn with a smart cute little girl named Scarlet I believe it was a perfect timing to bring this little girl into the storyline. To make up to Caitlin for losing her child when she had to time travel to save Caleb. However when things start to make sense to Caitlin and she is finally getting the family she wants. Kyle trouble maker he is starts to bear its ugly head effecting Scarlet and her fiancé (yes I said it!!) Caleb now does Caitlin continue her mission to get the key to save the human race or does she finally puts her family first and save Caleb and Scarlet? Does Sam and Polly get together? Those are questions that are answered. If you have been a fan of the Vampire journals you will want to get this book. Morgan Rice takes you back Shakespearean time were there is twist and turns and makes you needing to remember your history lesson because at my age I could not remember and was reminded of time were life was a bit more easier and simple. I was able to read this story in one day only because once I got started I couldn’t put it down and crying and laughing with Caitlin.
In BETRAYED (Book #3 in the Vampire Journals), Caitlin Paine awakes from a deep coma to discover she has been turned. Now a true, full-bred vampire, she marvels at her new powers, including her ability to fly, and her superhuman strength. She finds that her true love, Caleb, is still by her side, waiting patiently for her to recover. She has everything she could dream of.
Until it all, suddenly, goes terribly wrong.
Caitlin is horrified to discover Caleb with his ex-wife, Sera, and before Caleb has a chance to explain, Caitlin tells him to leave. Heartbroken, confused, Caitlin wants to curl up and die, her only consolation being in her wolf-pup Rose.
Caitlin also finds consolation in her new surroundings. She finds she has been placed on a hidden island in the Hudson River—Pollepel—amidst an elite coven of teenage vampires, boys and girls alike, 24 in all, including her. She learns that this is a place for outcasts, just like her, and as she meets her new best friend, Polly, and begins her training in elite vampire combat, she realizes that she might finally have a place to call home.
But a major vampire war is looming, and her brother Sam is still out there, kidnapped by Samantha. The evil Kyle, too, now wielding the mythical Sword, is still on the warpath, and he will stop at nothing to wipe out New York. Caitlin, despite her new home, and despite her finding a new love interest in the elusive vampire Blake, knows that she can only stay on this island for so long before her destiny calls. After all, she is still the One, and all eyes still look to her to find her father and the other weapon that might save them all.
Torn between her new friends and her lingering feelings for Caleb, she must come to decide where her true loyalties lie, and whether she is willing to risk it all to try to find Caleb and have him in her life once again….
BETRAYED is Book #3 in the Vampire Journals (following TURNED and LOVED), and yet it also stands alone as a self-contained novel. BETRAYED is over 60,000 words.
Review:
Betrayed was a very well written story.. This is 3rd book in the Caitlyn and Caleb series.. Caitlin wakes up as a full vampire fully turned due to the events at the church. It was her request to Caleb to change her so she could live. Caitlin is now on a island for vampires that are not excepted. As a new vampire she is happy to be alive but yet again Serena comes and ruins things causing Caitlin to banish Caleb from her sight. While Caitlin is dealing with her own issues her brother Sam has been kidnapped by Samantha and has been taken. Little did anybody know that not only is his sister is special so is Sam.
Kyle finds this out after seeing him as a fully turned vampire Kyle wants to use him to be his warrior. The humans in NY are dying, vampires are fighting and the white coven is not wanting to do anything about it. That leaves Caleb and his brother and some good vampires to try to take down Kyle and his evil coven. What I like about Morgan’s writing is that she shows different points of view from each main character and what there going thru and there feelings. Caitlin and Caleb story of the love they have for each other without really knowing each other. Caitlin is new to love and how relationships work but regardless of what happened she knows deep down that Caleb is the one.
Caitlin and Caleb embark together on their quest to find the one object that can stop the imminent vampire and human war: the lost sword. Their search for Caitlin’s father brings shocking news. But they are not the only ones searching for the legendary sword.
Review:
Caitlin and Caleb are on a mission to discover the sword, there journey takes them across country and through many historic locations. They must follow the clues to find the sword, but on the way they start to fall in love, but there love is forbidden and could cost them everything.
Sam, Caitlin’s brother, is still on his own, then he meets Samantha, a beautiful, mysterious girl and he falls for her, but she isn’t everything she seems to be.
Kyle the rogue Vampire is setting off more catastrophic events that will threaten humanity and vampires alike.
They are all after the sword but only one can get it.
I loved how the characters grew in this book and that you got to find more about each one, more of their back story. I liked Samantha as a new character, she was excellent, a real mix of sweet, pretty, tough and feisty.
There are loads of action scenes that will have your heart racing and some romantic moments that will make you sigh contentedly.
The ending is a real OMG moment and I can’t wait to start the next one.

As hard as she’s trying to remember, is there something she just can’t see?
Then, in a story full of dangerous revelations, Grace must face the most important question of all: why is she here?
Review:When Grace wakes up locked in a plain white room she has no idea how she got there. Held captive by the mysterious Ethan the only distraction she has is some pens and paper so she starts writing her story. As she writes about her friendship with Sal and falling in love with her boyfriend Nat we begin to unravel the mystery of how she ended up in the white room.
Entangled is a captivating and powerful debut and one that will take the reader on a roller coaster of emotions from laughter to tears and everything in between. When I sat down to read I was only intending to read a couple of chapters but I became so caught up in Grace’s tale that I finished the entire book in one sitting. This is a dark and uncomfortable read at times but that just makes it even more compelling and it does manage to leave you feeling hopeful by the end. I really admire the fact that Cat Clarke made me laugh out loud despite the difficult topics covered.
I’ve seen several reviewers say that they didn’t find Grace very likable in the beginning but I have to say I didn’t have the same problem with her. I didn’t like some of the things she was doing or her attitude at times but her character really spoke to me on a personal level and in some ways she reminded me a lot of myself as a teenager. Grace is in self destruct mode, she has so many emotions that she just doesn’t know how to deal with and this shows in the way she acts. In many ways she comes across as a normal teen – she seems friendly and outgoing and is doing well at school but this is just a front that she puts on. Underneath it all she is messed up – she uses alcohol to escape from reality, sleeps with boys she has just met and resorts to cutting as a way to feel in control of her life.
Her reasons might be different to mine and her behaviours differ to some degree but at her age I was in a very similar destructive pattern. Grace’s voice was so real to me and made for painful reading as I watched her make similar mistakes to me & I just wanted to reach into the book and be the voice of experience to tell her that things can and will get better. This particular quote has stayed with me for days since reading the story and for me it captures the essence of Grace perfectly:
“It’s when I’m alone that the doubt sets in. It’s been that way for years. As long as there are people around, I can pretend everything’s OK. But I need that audience to pretend for, otherwise it doesn’t work. Alone, I’m not that easy to fool.” Page 214
It is hard to go into too much detail about the rest of the story without giving spoilers, I really do think that this is one of those books that the less you know about before going in the better the reading experience will be. I will say that although I thought I’d figured out the twist at the end (well I had several theories anyway and was sure one of them would be correct) Cat Clarke still managed to surprise me. Entangled is a gripping and powerful read and one that I would thoroughly recommend, I know this is a story that will stay with me and one that I’m looking forward to reading again now I know how it ends.

Review:
I realized yesterday, (as I sat staring at a blank white screen for an hour,) that sometimes the right words are hard to find. For many of us, our words are confined to the simple (and sometimes idiotic) phrases that fly from our mouths each day, while others of us feel the need to put them on paper, (offer them up to a wider audience if you will,) and it is those words that are judged differently. While normal conversation is free flowing and spontaneous, words written for the specific means of having them read are planned, plotted, written, re-written and then eventually edited to convey EXACTLY what the author meant. Both forms have consequences and significance, but only one of those can be picked apart and overanalyzed to death. The WRITTEN word.
Ok, my point (I assure you I have one.) In the last several books I have read (some I have reviewed others I have not) I have found myself taken aback by the authors need to throw around the “L” word. While the word (sadly) has taken a somewhat “less than meaningful” tone in everyday society, (thank you very much horny teenagers) it’s importance in literature is the exact opposite, (heavily weighted and to be accompanied by sincerity.) Why exactly am I giving you a lesson in word placement instead of telling you about “Turned?” Because this book is a prime example of misplaced affection, and unfortunately…it detracted from the story instead of adding to it.
Now, onto my soapbox I go. I would first like to state that I had some pretty severe reservations about “Turned” by Morgan Rice before I even turned on my Kindle. While the synopsis sounds exciting, (“action packed” if you are going by my first impression) the book in it’s entirety is only 196 pages long. Seems a little condensed for so much going on right? I thought so. Anyways, I was certain that unless Ms. Rice had a magic wand and the best damn thesaurus in town there was no way she was going to pull this off successfully in so few pages. I was both right…and wrong. (Damn I hate it when that happens.)
For starters the first 20% or so was VERY one dimensional, (as in generic YA fluff with no legs) it was not until Rice introduced multi-narration that the story actually (pardon the pun) grew some teeth and became interesting. With the introduction of additional characters we also found ourselves immersed in action, (chase scenes to be exact which…by the way…were expertly penned.) The action led to Caleb, which in turn led to the “series plot” (as apposed to this specific books “sub plot”) and the story took flight. This (“lets save the girl…she is the “One”) moment is also the point where Rice should have slowed her story down. It is obvious in most books who the love interest is going to be, but it is an authors duty to maneuver their relationship in a way that creates an attachment between the reader and the characters in the book, (*cough* this is where the “L” word lesson would have come in handy) Though the “I Love You” in “Turned” came at 86% (which seems late) it was VERY premature. Caleb and Caitlin had known each other for approximately 3 hours and (while yes) there was a “connection” the immediate revelation of “love” dwindled every ounce of anticipation the reader might have had towards their next encounter (this little slip up also makes the next book much less appealing.) If (for example) Rice would have waited until book 2 to declare feelings, the intimacy between the two would have fueled the readers desire to keep going.
“I love you” issues and ”fantastic action sequences” aside, the book was…average. There were a few discrepancies through-out the writing (tenses) and I whole-heartily believe that if given more room to write the book would have felt more complete, but overall it wasn’t that bad of a read. It was quick, it ultimately kept my attention, and it had both evil and nice vampires with is a nice change of pace.
I Recommend… A friend suggested I compile a list of YA novels that I would recommend to anybody and everybody wishing to explore this amazing genre. I will update this list every time I read a book I can’t bear to go unnoticed. But, with out further a do, here they are:

Review:
The prologue was really good , The synopsis intrigued me like a great synopsis should . We get to meet lil falcon and branimmediately. (I had the tendency to read little falcon instead of lil falcon trough the first chapters but later I got used to her name.)Lil accepted who she was and did not hide her gypsy heritage, that was cool. I loved that she was a good friend to her friends. Most of all Not a WHINY lass.Sykes and Remy , two of the side characters who acted immature , and funny and are witty. And enjoying like brothers towards lil, but loved her as a sis.what do you expect from teenage brothers there annoying lol. The other side characters were really enjoyable and needed to create a wonderful tale. Grandpa, Izyy, Kim and othersThe romance is brief in all the action . It not gagging for a boy . Lets me honest Boys don’t read as as girls . With romance all most non-existent . Lil and bran felt like real people , real teens. And have to say Bran is the perfect gentlemen , although grandpa was a bit hesitant , I can imagine he only has her left , you will find out why if u read it
Found a song that fits with a beloved scene of this book, for those who read it its the mountain scene at night ,the first date.
It’s from lady antebellum , just a kiss
The fighting scenes were Amazing , was on the edge of my seat , the tempo was good not to quickly but did not drag at all. Sadly did not find a good song for those scenes
The bad guys were bad/evil but I felt like there was some good somewhere. You will find out a lot of family history and a lot of question will be stirred up.
