Review:

Anna Karenina is one of the two main characters in the novel she is an aristocrat from St. Petersburg, Russia. This story takes place in the 1800s, where adultery and divorce was illegal. She captures the attention of everyone in society by the way she carries herself. She commits adultery; she cannot live without her lover. She is well mannered and outspoken. She is a young married woman, who has one young son. Unfortunately she sees a very handsome young man, named Vronsky, and she instantly becomes attracted to him, when their eyes meet. Vronsky is wealthy, he is a military officer. He is passionate, and caring for Anna. He becomes charmed by her beauty upon meeting her. She has an affair with him and commits adultery. She cannot live without her lover, even though her husband tells her to leave him. She is now pregnant with her lovers child, and her husband loves her so much that he is willing to raise the child as his own, as long as she leaves her lover, Vronsky. Her husband Karenin is a high-ranking Government Minister, who forgives her of committing adultery.

Anna is the beautiful, passionate, and educated wife of Alexei Karenin, a cold and passionless government official. Her character is rich in complexity: she is guilty of desecrating her marriage and home, for instance, but she remains noble and admirable nonetheless. Anna is intelligent and literate, a reader of English novels and a writer of children’s books. She is elegant, always understated in her dress. Her many years with Karenin show her capable of playing the role of cultivated, beautiful, society wife and hostess with great poise and grace. She is very nearly the ideal aristocratic Russian wife of the 1870s.

Her affair throws her into social exile, misery and eventually makes her commit suicide, because her love moves on with someone else.

The other main character is Levin. He is independent-minded and socially awkward. He is truly an individual character who fits into none of the obvious classifications of Russian society. Levin is his own person. He follows his own vision of things, even when it is confused and foggy, rather than adopting any group’s prefabricated views. Moreover, Levin prefers isolation over fitting in with a social set with which he is not wholly comfortable. In this he resembles Anna, whose story is a counterpart to his own in its search for self-definition and individual happiness.

He falls in love with Kitty, Anna’s friend, despite that they are from different social classes. Kitty being a Princess, and Levin being a Peasant. The two, struggle to find each other and happiness as they create a life together. . She gives up being a princess because she loves him, and she moves to his farm and becomes a peasant.

Conflict
Anna struggles between her passion for Vronsky and her desire for independence on the one hand, and her marital duty, social convention, and maternal love on the other; Levin struggles to define his own identity and reach an understanding of faith in an alienating and confusing world

Rising action
Anna meets Vronsky in the train station, initiating an acquaintance that grows into adulterous passion and family upheaval; their consummation of the affair leads to Anna’s abandonment of her husband and son. Meanwhile, Kitty rebuffs Levin’s marriage proposal, prompting him to withdraw to his estate in the country and reflect on the meaning of life.

Climax 
Anna makes a public appearance at the opera, forcing a confrontation between her desire to live life on her own terms and the hostile opinions of St. Petersburg society, which scorns and rejects her; this episode seals her fate as a social outcast and fallen woman. Meanwhile, Levin’s search for meaning is rewarded by marriage to Kitty, stable family life, and an understanding of faith.

Falling action 
Anna commits suicide, unable to bear her lack of social freedom and the jealousy and suspicion arising from her unstable relationship with Vronsky. Meanwhile, Levin continues

Foreshadowing
A man dies at the train station when Anna first arrives, foreshadowing her own death at a train station years later; Vronsky’s actions cause the fall and death of his horse Frou-Frou, foreshadowing the later death of his beloved Anna.

Overall, I really enjoyed both the novel and the film. I usually don’t read novels in this genre, but I really liked this one. If you get a chance, you should definitely check this book out! On Goodreads there’s a ‘Read Book‘ button, that’s if you would want to read the novel! I highly recommend it!

This is the second novel that I have read of this author, and WOW, it’s amazing!

The Rockin’ Chair by Steven Manchester is a well written, engaging book that really makes the reader think. It is an emotional story of the McCarthy family.

The characters really draw you in; they make readers sympathize their struggles.

His description is rich in detail, but just the right balance for you to know about Montana without being redundant. He writes with poetic charisma, keeping you enthralled in the story without flashy gimmicks. It’s humble, down-home, and a well-written story you won’t want to miss.

I can only say go read it, you won’t be sorry. You’ll enjoy a wonderful and inspiring story.

My thoughts:

I was thoroughly entranced by Bitten and could not wait to devour Stolen. While I was initially hoping for more of the same, i.e., Clay, Elena and The Pack, I knew that the Were world would not be the main focus of this story. I have to admit, at first I was a bit put out. Who cares about witches, demons, vamps and the lot? I want to run, and hunt and drool over Clay! Regardless of my hopes, I sat down with Stolen and attempted to put my pre-conceived notions aside, after all, Kelley Armstrong hadn’t failed me yet, and after having finished Stolen, I wondered if she ever will. It was superb! 

Bitten fans be warned, Stolen is nothing like it’s predecessor, I wouldn’t even consider it a sequel, as Bitten was written to be a stand alone novel and it is obvious from the start that Stolen was written with the intent of it being the beginning of a series. Therefore, I offer this advice, as you read Stolen, try to think of it as the first book of a series that just so happens to include your favorite characters from Bitten. Rest assured, Clay and Jeremy are still present. There are still chemistry filled moments between Clay and Elena, their relationship still evokes butterflies and laughs, though thankfully, they have moved beyond their troubles that plagued them in Bitten. Elena continues to narrate and provide us with her snide, aloof comments and preconceived misconceptions; however, the world as Elena knew it is gone. 

As Stolen opens, Elena is following a lead about a potential werewolf killing. What Elena finds; however, is an intent pair of witches desperately attempting to contact her with the hopes of enlisting the pack’s assistance in tracking down a scientific group who is capturing people for an occult menagerie. Initially skeptical, Elena becomes a true believer when she herself is stalked and ultimately captured. What follows is and action filled story, overflowing with new and intriguing characters that will leave your heart racing and your adrenaline singing as you gobble up every last word.

This story is mainly about a girl named Daisy who has an extraordinary power, she is electric. She can mess with any electrical device; and has to practice yoga and meditation in order to be able to control her ability. 

 

This book surprised me. I went in expecting it to be mediocre and it was great. I loved everything about it. I couldn’t put it down!!!  The puzzle to solve the creepy dreams the girls had and the twist at the climax of the story was great!

 

Well I don’t want to give the story away, but it was quite good. It started out really slow, and I kept thinking, how is this all going to work together. There is the new kid, Kevin, who has a history of being in a metal institute. Danielle and Daisy who believe they are reincarnated and are both having the same dreams from another life. And Vivi, who communicates with a ghost, but she can communicate with him better if Daisy is around, since Daisy’s electricity helps him to channel.

 

This is a great coming of age story with some paranormal aspects. Even though Daisy has powers that normal teenagers do not many of the challenges she faces are the same that other teens face. Such as fitting in, making friends, falling in love, and finding out whom you truly are.

 

Overall, I would recommend this book to all young adults who love to read. The Gift by Andrea Buchanan was a treat to read.  I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this author!

Review:

Bloodlines has grown to be one of my favorite YA book series, if not the favorite. And of course you all know I’m more than crazy about
Adrian Ivashkov.

So reading this books has become something I’m looking forward to everytime. I must say I like these better than Vampire Academy! *waits for VA fans to strike me down*
I just get so much joy from reading these Bloodlines books. Especially when Adrian comes in. *swoon swoon swoon* ;D
I loved it so much. So many amazing moments. Ahhh, Richelle Mead, you did it again!

The Indigo Spell started a few weeks after where The Golden Lily ends. We all know where that was. I loved how you could definitely see a change in Sydney, especially when she kept analyzing what happened with Adrian. So obvious, Syd!
Anyway I loved when Adrian showed up in the plane next to her, all calm and collected, saying that he’d keep on loving her no matter what. Like she didn’t have a say in it. Classic Adrian. (hide spoiler)]
Sydney in this book, was different from the one we say in the previous book. I can’t believe how far she came, considering how she was when we first met her in Blood Promise. She might have her doubts a little bit about using magic but in the end it seems like her doubts have gone away. [Especially with meeting Marcus and everying.

My favorite aspect of this book was… all the Sydrian stuff! I mean, seriously this book was pretty much all of that. And I loved it. I’ve been waiting forever for this! Adrian and Sydney are perfect together. They complete each other perfectly. I did get a little annoyed whenever they kissed Sydney would back away again but she made up for it in the end in my eyes.

So. Markus. Not sure what to say about him. I do not like this dude. I don’t know what it is about him but I’m not feeling it. So we’ll see if he shows up in the next book if I still have that disliking feeling about him. I’m not sure what everyone else thinks about him but I’d be glad to hear your opinions about him.

The only negative things I can say about The Indigo Spell is how I kind of missed the gang. Jill, Eddie, Angeline. Trey. They weren’t in it as much, although they had their own little dramas to deal with. I totally had that Angeline/Trey thing seen coming. And I must say I love love love them as a couple. So I hope they work it out. I must say I’m starting to like Jill more. Well except when she ruined Adrian and Sydney’s hot moment! Damn her!

I was surprised by the stuff happening with Veronica. What happened there in the end surprised me but I loved that scene. Another swoon moment for Adrian when he carried Sydney out. *sigh*
I did wish all of it would’ve been slightly more unpredictable but it was okay in the end. More than okay.
And boy do I love Hopper! ♥ So adorable!

Overall I LOVED The Indigo Spell. I couldn’t get enough of it. I was SO in my Adrian bubble and didn’t want to get out. Sydney was absolutely kick ass and I’m looking forward to the next book The Fiery Heart because it has Sydney AND Adrian’s POV!

Everyone who hasn’t read Bloodlines yet and I know there’s a lot of you out there. Get your business together and start it right away. You’ll get an overdose of Adrian, which is a very good thing!

Now on to waiting for The Fiery Heart. *sad sigh*

Wow! OMG!!!

What a fantastic read! Beautifully Broken is the first novel in Sherry Soule’s Spellbound series.

The author has created a mystery immersed in history and heritage. The story follows Shiloh (main character), a 16 year-old witch who has just started learning about her powers. Not only is she dealing with that, but she also has the unfortunate ability to see ghosts and demons. She is brave, selfless, and snarky. She’s a character that I think a lot of teens, like myself can look up to. She lives in the town of Whispering Pines, where people just mysteriously vanish.

The characters are fantastic, creative, very realistic and well-constructed. The plot twists and turns, by the end of the book I was hanging on to my seat unable to read fast enough to find out more! Now, I can’t wait for the next novel in the series!! A must read for sure! This is one of those Young Adult books that I would highly recommend to anyone that loves reading, even those that don’t normally pick up a paranormal.

Upon reading the synopsis of this book, I didn’t know if this book would be humorous, action-packed, or mysterious. But as soon as i started reading the novel I was hooked! Immortal Eclipse is an action-packed, character driven novel that is guaranteed to give you goosebumps!

The main character is Skylar Blackwell. She was a fantastic protagonist, interesting to read about, she is kick ass, witty, and quite the fashonista! Her character in a sense made the book come alive, especially when she arrives at Summerwind Mansion. Her interactions with the mansion’s staff really make this novel shine. There is definitely something sinister going on at Summerwind and Skylar is determined to get to the bottom of things, no matter what. Underneath all that love of material things, she really was a compassionate person; her family meant the world to her.Dorian!!! A very intriguing character and Skylar’s love interest. But he kept pushing her away. However in the end I understand why he did the things he did.

I loved this book, it was really good, the story-line is captivating and you wont be able to put the book down! I really enjoyed this book, and highly recommend it to people in the mood for a paranormal mystery with a creepy haunted house feel and If you are looking for a gripping tale of action, romance, loss, and all things that go bump-in-the-night, then this is the book for you!!

Review:

There’s never a moment of peace for the kids in the FAYZ. The major problem now is the plague. The kids find out that a flying snake that they called greenies are squirting (yucks) green stuff and the person who are hit by it will face an agonizing death. The green stuff will eat its way from inside you and burst its way out from your stomach. The miseries of all is that even Sam’s blazing light can’t kill it. Next, the kids are also catching flu. A flu that makes you cough so hard it would break your neck and cough your organs out.

Truthfully I am quite bored of reading this series as the plot us quite the same and there’s just too much blood. In Plague the plot change a little but there’s more blood everywhere than ever before. I was expecting Sam to be searching for cures or something to handle the plague but instead there’s other problem needed to be taken care of other than the plague. The water source in Perdido Beach is running out and so Albert sent Sam and other crew to search for water at Lake Tramanto. While he was there, Perdido Beach was facing other threats. Without Sam, Dekka and Jack they couldn’t do much to defend themselves. So they ask for help from someone and guess who it is? Caine! I am quite dissapointed because even Diana can’t control him. So of he goes to Perdido Beach and claim himself as the King. Lol much.

The story moves at a great speed and there’s so much things happening everywhere there’s no room for you to grieve. I can’t wait to read the next book, Fear.

Review:

It’s been months since they were trapped in the FAYZ, The Fallout Alley Youth Zone. In the previous book, Hunger, the kids are starving each day. In this book, though the food is scarce, they were not as starve as before. Albert, as always have been the one who still keep things running when everyone is out panicking. Though he have that trait that is quite important when in need, I still think he is selfish though. But at least he is better at the end, not quite but better.

As it has been in the two previous books, the plot is always interesting, fast and keeps making you turn the pages. It’s exciting and keeps me on the edge of my sit!

All the burdens and responsibility finally make Sam has his breakdown. He ran away and distance himself from everyone, especially Astrid. Though it sounds quite irresponsible and selfish, no one can really blames him. He is only 15 anyway. With all that burden and expectations, it’s a wonder he didn’t beak down earlier. I am quite relieve though that he went away. He finally has a break time and Astrid too, finally reflect on her mistakes. I like Astrid more in this book. She finally work out a system and though it’s not perfect but at least it’s going to hold them for a while longer. Who know what will happen next anyway? Seems like everytime they are holding it together, they will be thrown into something else and things broke down again.

I love the different point of view in this series. It’s rare that you got to read the POV of different characters. So it really makes this book unique.

Caine hadn’t done a lot in this book. Mostly he just manipulate people to do his work, as always. This time it’s Zil. Zil was furious because he was manipulated. Nothing he could do anyway with Caine’s power up his nose. I’m feeling quite sorry for Diana, Caine’s girlfriend. She is tired of it all. I actually admire her for her braveness though sometimes I think she’s a fool for following Caine at the first place. Caine, I think he is screwed up, like most of the people in this book. I really feel like going in there and knock them all up and stop them from all the stupidity and immatureness. But first, I will have to survive and don’t go crazy in there.

Overall, this book is my favourite from the first three. The plot are more aggressive and I can’t wait to read the next book. Hell, I actually can’t wait to read the last book to know where this story is going. Michael really sew up a great story. To you guys who haven’t read this book, you are missing a lot. Gone is that rare kind of book that can easily stand beside Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Hunger Games and such.
